as the topic implies i'm having issues with the steam FNV occasionally or constantly freezing/crashing
i do use mods but i'd heard of people with 100+ and apparently no issues
so im thinking, wth? why is mine doing this? i thought it might be certain mods that i was using but idk

anyway, what happens is, it'll either load the next Area forever and i have to close it via ctrl alt del, or it just plain old crashes -_-
and it'll do this at the worst times... like the battle for the dam or some other important part
i do have all the DLC but i doubt that would be the issue
sooooo any help would be greatly appreciated :D

thanks in advance

Say is your Book of Earache up to date? Cause the patches here on the Nexus arent the latest versions. Latest NVSE? 4gb NVSE could help too

Book of Earache? whaa?
and i forgot to mention... the issues i was having were on my old dual core compaq...
which was vastly inferior to my new pc lol
so maybe that was the issue...
and what did you mean by the patches here arent the latest?
and lastly i'll give 4gb nvse a go :D

yeah i hate trying to revive a few month old topic but i still haven't gotten a clear answer...and my game is CTDing even more often
i'm wondering if it's due to some of my mods being incompatible with other certain mods... or maybe it's my load order idfk but regardless it's driving me nuts cause it's so random i never know when it'll do it... i mean sure i can Save really often but that doesn't solve the issue. i shouldn't have to save every 2 seconds ya know?
anyway, below is my list/load order.
pc specs haven't changed from the above list
oh someone mentioned a book of earache. but failed to mention what that actually is
someone care to enlighten me?
and what's the 4gb nvse?
thanks in advance

First off, your PC stats are perfectly fine. I usually run FNV off a year old HP Pavilion dv7 laptop with accelerated video and less memory than you have. With Stutter Remover installed, it runs smooth as silk even with a ton of major mods and retextures installed. And my machine is less powered than yours.

When I first started modding FO3, I went a little nuts and just started installing anything that sounded cool. And I did end up with a cool game, albeit one that crashed like crazy. Going into FNV, I aimed to be a lot more careful about what I plugged in - fewer mods, higher quality ones, and more that I wrote myself.

If you're getting lots of crashes, particularly as you're transitioning between cells, then the odds are very high that either a) you're using a buggy mod (there's a lot of them), or b) you have a serious mod conflict somewhere. It happens.

Either way, the only thing you can do is try to isolate the issue. I'm assuming that you're using FOMM or equivalent. Export your current load order, keep that safe for later. Then boot the game and find a crash that you can reproduce. Does it always crash the moment you enter a particular building, room, etc? When you sleep? Get into combat? Find a nonrandom crash and save the game as close to that point as you can. Then quit the game.

Next, start deselecting mods in FOMM, five or ten at a time. Boot the game, test the crash. When the crash stops happening, reselect those mods one at a time until you find one that definitely seems to be involved.

Sometimes it's just one mod causing a reliable crash - get rid of it, bring it to the attention of the author, and/or learn your way around GECK and fix it.

Other times it's a conflict caused by multiple mods working badly together. These can be MADDENING to sort out.. the worst one I've ever had was a weird chem effect conflict that involved four different mods and only crashed under a specific set of circumstances. Took an hour to isolate and two minutes to fix in FNVEdit.

That's really the only way to do it right. Reproduce, isolate, and fix the crashes one at a time. Eventually you'll end up with a rock solid stable - and way cool - modded game.

well normally that's what i would do...remove mods one by one and find the bad one.
BUT it's always random... like for instance just a moment ago i was just WALKING and it CTDed
it's never the same place or time. so that'll make it pretty much impossible to figure out if i have a buggy mod or not
and i would assume that to find out if something conflicts with another would be to check each mod's author page and give them my list and ask if there's anything that wouldn't properly co exist. and that would take time as some off my mods i've had for awhile
i guess disabling or maybe seeing if some of my mods have fixes of anysort would help
i'll keep you guys posted

also i ran NVMM and did the Load Order report...
98% of the mods i have had this message below

* This mod does not exist in the current template

no idea what that means...

Edit: also how do you work FNVEdit?

Edit 2: UPDATE!!!
I've decided to redownload and reinstall my mods as a lot of them were outdated it seemed.
i'll see if that helps any

and i would assume that to find out if something conflicts with another would be to check each mod's author page and give them my list and ask if there's anything that wouldn't properly co exist.

That might help if you're talking about popular, regularly updated mods. But unless lots of people are reporting a particular conflict, any mod author has plenty of better things to do than try to figure out every random conflict that comes up. Most of the time, you're on your own.

BTW, if you're generally unfamiliar with FNVEdit, that's probably a big part of the problem right there. That's the primary tool for identifying and resolving conflicts, and often merge-patching in FNVEdit eliminates a lot of crashes. Plenty of your seemingly random crashes could be as simple as unresolved issues between modified cell layouts.

Read and enjoy..
