I somehow don't think that the total PC crashes that some people are getting can be very good for their rigs.

The crashes are irrelevant to this patch, they've been occurring since launch.
This is known as the Bethesda Game effect.

(1) The original game was crashy seemingly for those running Win7 64 bit and having fairly beast type rigs. In some cases, brand new built for Skyrim with hardware that is running perfectly well and smashes other hefty games like The Witcher 2.

(2) What we found sorted out the crashes was making the TESV.exe large address aware

(3) Now along comes the latest patch which replaces the .exe with one that is no longer large address aware. AAAAAND the crashes are back

Therefore, the return of the crashing issue is the fault of the patch. Since you CANNOT make the updated exe large address aware. Bethesda cannot be unaware of the issues that people are having and what the fix was, it beggars belief that they went out of their way to do something that makes the game unplayable.

i can confirm steam's ghost update - when i checked the installation directory it appears only TESV.exe was replaced with steam reporting 18.xxMB downloaded.

there's numerous reasons why this was done... everywhere from patch pre-staging to an evil conspiracy meant to target you (and ONLY you!!)

would be nice to know what exactly our soup was spiked with but hey, what's the fun in that?

i am experiencing something rather odd since yesterday morning which is massively increased load-times (15-30 second load screens, woaaaah)

let's see what happens

becouse, skyrim isn't that great not supporting mods. it needs the construction set more than a update.without the construction se Bethesda games are not near as fun as other developers games. unless you just a Bethesda fan-boy.

i think skyrim is the best game ive ever played. it used to be ocarina of time or starcraft but now i can say skyrim is the best game ive ever played. also i found Nvidia's new beta driver which also supports SLI helped with the crashes.

lol wut? stop smoking 10 lbs rocks and then play the game. i can understand if you hate fantasy games (i do, too, but this game is the exception), but if you don't like this game, you probably don't like RPGs altogether.

Awesome game ... just as fun as GTA 4 but in the middle ages way ...
I'm glad to see that they have took more "mature" approach with this one ... politics, more depth to the quests, etc. Great improvement when compared to FO3 or Oblivion.
Looking forward to the update.

i cant play more than 30 minutes without it crashing to desktop. the game needs a patch and or the creation kit so bug fixes can be made. official patches never fixes that much. but the creation kit would allow proper bug fixes is all im saying. they need to get us a means to fix what they butchered.

i play on a $800 laptop from 2006 that i can only max KotOR ('05 game) in settings, maintain a framefrate 30 or so in Skyrim which came out 2 weeks ago, and i have never CTDed (except for bonechill pass, but that is a known bug). lower your settings and you will have a descent framerate and better stability. i had to lower the resolution to the lowest rez and that gave me 30+ fps, compared to 5-10. all i am really waiting for are the remeshes and the stutter remover so i can try a normal rez.

btw, the game still looks great imo, though guys will look super buff and girls will have big asses (don't really mind that part). despite that, this is coming from a guy who has never played on a descent machine in his life.
