Damage with weapons appears to have a cap.

Having a cap isnt a bad idea but maybe it should be very curvy at the end so that its easy for anyone to hit 70-75% mitigation but 80% is very very hard or some such.

 

Just looked in game and wearing my suit of light dragonscale+shield, smithed with a single +20% enchant piece and an Elixir of Fortify Smith 50%, I am at 499 defense, pretty close to the cap, and my light armor is only in the low 80s. With just 2 or 3 pieces of vendor-quality smithing gear I could hit the 567 cap.

 

IMO they should cap +% enchanting and +% smithing to 100% at all times though. The ability to load up over +200% leads to insane enchants and guys with 1300 armor, etc. A cap on supersmithing and superenchanting is just as important as an armor cap.
