Ah yes, "Dwemer". The fabled lost race of Mer, vastly technologically superior to the rest of Tamriel. We have dismissed that claim.

Even though the Ayleids and Dwemer probably didn't have much in the way of contact before, who's to say they didn't after their supposed exiles? The technological Dwemer coupled with the mystical Ayleids... That would definitely be a strong fighting force.

The Dwemer also had a megalythic understanding of how Magic worked. Their 'technology' is more of a combination of hard science and a scientific understanding of Magicka. The basic power source of their creations involves using a Soul Gem to act as a heating element in an oil fueled boiler.

The differance lies in the lack of theology for the Dwemer. They had their own gods, yes, but they didn't ascribe various happenings to their gods. Because of that, their gods seemed less important, which is partially what led to the creation of the Numidum.

Well, they showed little respect towards anything exept their own gods. Look at the Dadreic Princes. They went around and tricked them, and generally pissed them off. At one point they would have reached a war against the Dadrea, if they did not get rid of themself. A new reason for the Oblivion crisis, with more dadreic enteties!

How could they? Consider the Dwemer could basted away using unimaginable power. Whilst the ayleids just ran away after the rebellion. They were hunted down and could be found i the woods, rather primitive, again.

One got blasted into the void, wether they lived or not are unsure, and the other hunted down in the mortal plane. They really couldn't have any connection. The only similiarity they had is that when they were at the top, both had the chance to take of Tamriel, ad in the end both dissapeared.

I really don't see how tricking the Daedra can be used against them so much... It's not like mortals aren't doing it now, on a regular basis. I mean, lets face it, Nocturnal lost her Cowl, her Eye, and her Skeleton Key. Hermaeus Mora had his book stolen and locked away, Molag Bal had his mace stolen and defiled. Nothings really changed in regards to people tricking the Daedra and taking their stuff.

Nothings really changed in regards to people tricking the Daedra and taking their stuff.

And what happens when the Dadrea find the peoplle doing it? Yup, infinite torture.
Pissing off the immortal is not a good thing. Look at the Oblivion crisis. ONE deadric prince wanted Cyrodiil. He almost made it. Not, let's put all of them together, wanting to get rid of 1 race. There would be gated and tons of dadreic minions every corner.

Dadreic Princes are quite kind, consider the humor they got. However, piss one off enough, and it goes bad. Look at the power they got. Teleporting you far to the sky without a problem. It could be raining Demers, and they would have no defense against it.
My point was: THe Aylieds got their power, or so we assume, from the same thing the dwemer had pissing contest on. They were far more advanced, and probably saw the Ayleids as any other race: Primitive.

At least that is my view on it.

We know from The Infernal City that there are planes of existance far, far beyond Oblivion with creatures that would make the Hist scratch their tree-tops. why displace them in time (Something which has already been done) when you can cast them into the furthest reaches of creation?

Plus, you know... there are still those ash piles everywhere in Oblivion that have to be explained...

I think it is obvious what happened to the dwemer, they delved to deeply, awoke some nameless forgotten beasts. They then proceeded to bend over and take a genocidal destruction of their race.
