ok hi I'm Geonox! Whoho my first post on this forum...yes I'm a new user :P ....is there some member info threat where I can introduce myself or something?
ok but my question....I've been doing some moddeling work and made my own character/race. I've imported it to morrowind and assigned all the bodyparts to the new race in tcs....but I had a problem when I tested my character. I created a new npc character of that new race but when I placed the character in the game he was all messed up. All the bodyparts where @ the wrong place like the head was placed to low and the hands were the chest and more....so does anyone knows how to solve this mystery??? :(

Hi Geonox you have just set the bodyparts at the wrong places. This will tell you how to do step by step.

1. When you have entered the costruction set and loaded your mod then you need to enter on a list to the left, (the list should have the name "object window" on the list there stands Static, NPC, light and much more.

2. After you found the list klick on the button called "Bodyparts" then you will se every armor and so called Bodyparts to every character in the game.

3. Now when you are in the list then klick with Right mouse button on it and there should stand "New" "Edit" "Info" "Delete"

4. Klick on new and find your new made bodypart, in the "Add art file" button. (Remember that your own made bodyparts must before all this been copied to the "meshes" folder in the morrowind installation map).

5. Then if you have found your bodypart then you must for an example (If you have chosed on the "new" button and finds your new bodypart and the bodypart you have chosen is a head then you must go to the left on the "new" window and chose head were it stand "Part" Under "Id") and if you should chose on the list for an example "leg" then will the head turn up in the game as a leg.

6. Now when you have chosed the head as a "head" on the list then you must do the same exactly the same with your other bodypart but with a differens that if you have a leg then you cant pick "head" on the list, and if you do that then will the leg appear were the head should be.

7. Now after you have done this with all of your bodyparts and have made a new race then you must go back to the bodyparts window and klick on your new made things (as in your case Bodyparts :P )

8. And when the window shows up you should see the already made bodypart you have chosen. And then you should in that window go to the right and klick on a button were it stands "Race" chose your new race and the bodypart as you have chosed will have the bodypart at the right place.

Remember to klick under "Part type" and choce "skin" for all of your parts, happy modding :D

whoa, thats messed

when you made the bodypart for the race did you do the following

delete the race name upon double clicking on the bodypart
type in yours
select your race through a little thing where you click on it and it slides down
then click ok
it asks you if it wants to make a duplicate (makes a new one, not affecting the original)
then you click ok, and it should work, because thats what i do, or you might be using the armor ones, which i doubt is the case.

no I've imported them to 3dmax and edited the chest a bit. I've imported all the bodyparts because I wanted to assign a new texture to it...so I've added the textures to all the bodyparts in max and exported them again as a .nif file as B_N_Dahrjiin Elf_M_Ankle, B_N_Dahrjiin Elf_M_Foot etc. so I don't know what I have done worng...but I'll try that method you said but if I duplicate a dark elf chest the skin texture would be dark green right? how do I assign a new texture map tothe duplicated bodyparts?hmm edit: I've tried your thing but it didn't worked it's the same as what I did before but I didn't used the armour thing I'm sure :(

Hey, Geonox, are you using the body parts of Lord Vivec? Because it looks like the model for your race is in a sitting position, which is how Vivec is in the game.
