Guess we will have to see how this plays out but it isn't looking good from my perspective. But I'm a bit skeptical of any Steam intrusion TBH.

phew. seeing steam and creation kit almost gave me a heart attack. i was scared steam would monopolize the ck and f*** it up somehow.

I'm not sure about this. Why would they do this steamworks integration? The description of steamworks is:
"Contribute to the future of your favorite Steam games!
Ever dreamed of seeing your brilliant ideas come to life in a game played by millions of people? Now you can, starting with Team Fortress 2! Create and submit new items, or review and rate what other people submit. Rate items highly and you just might see them become available in-game. If your creation is accepted for distribution in-game, you can even earn a percentage of sales. Check out the Instructions page for more information on how to create items, or just start browsing and rating items below."
Earn a percentage of sales? I'm not a modder myself but I like the Nexus and it's a place where I get my mods since Morrowind...
Another thing, aren't they trying somehow to make PS3 users able to download mods via steamworks? Or how does it work?

@Dark0ne, you seem to have missed that Bethesda said specifically in this announcement that it would be "Using the Workshop, you’ll have free user content with the push of a button." Emphasis on FREE. They won't be having people charge money for mods. This is VERY VERY CLEAR.
You can get free user content, but that doesn't mean there won't be paid for user content as well.
If the Apple App Store had a statement reading "Using the Apple App Store, you'll have free user content with the push of a button" they'd be right and wouldn't be lying. There are many free apps on the Apple App Store. There are even more paid apps. But the paid apps in the Apple App Store don't make that statement any less true.
I've asked Matt for clarification on that one and if he replies that all mods will be free I'll definitely amend my news post.

The first thing I am to do with the CK is replace the player dark elf voice with those from Morrowind (grunts, moans, and maybe a NPC using the greetings), however, for that to get uploaded without my consent, will land me with a perma-ban on my steam account, I am sure of this.

As much as I love bethesda, they really piss me off sometimes. They already sort of owe money to a bunch of modders for their ideas, such as how WMK for FO3 inspired adding mods to weapons in New Vegas, and how GRA just ripped off WME/X, and poorly implemented it. I can see a lot of elements of MMM, and a bunch of oblivion mods in Skyrim. Now they might potentially try to charge money for other people's work. We already pay a ridiculous amount for the game, and whatever expansion/DLC they make/crap out (Looking at you GRA/courier's stash). As great as a lot of mods are, the great thing about them is that they are free.
Instead of steam workshop, they should just link to the nexus. Or implement the steam features, but with the nexus. Just keep it simple.

Well I'm happy they finally announced a release date for the CK. What I'm not so happy about is this steam workshop integration. Any mods I make for upload will go directly on Nexus. If I want a mod, I will look on Nexus. I think it all comes down to faithfulness. Nexus is the community that introduced me to modding. I would feel like a "cheater" if I uploaded my mods anywhere else.

Gonna have to agree with Dark0ne on this one current trends are to milk every nickel and dime out of a title they can first it was expansions now they may be looking for a piece of the modding pie.
They way it's said in that paragraph Free may or may not be Emphasized and is at best ambiguous.

I for one will not be using this Workshop thing as its just not for me. The tried and tested method works for me and I dont want no invasive program peeking into my personal stache of mods.
Seems everybody is jumping on the Valve bandwagon and soon eveything will be required to be activated by Steam.
Big corporate takeover kind of thing, even lessening the freedom of users everywhere. I dunno about the "optional" part but Im sure give it a few months, it will be mandertory. Gone are the days of people who just wish to use thier cpu for gaming, nothing else (no online things)
Next thing you know, when you get a new version of Windows, "a Steam account is required to varify and unlock this Version of Windows" Absolutly annoying.
