@scot
LAA does not let your 32bit OS use more memory, it only let's the .exe use more memory. If you have 5gb RAM on a 32bit OS and LAA, you can still only address a total of 4gb RAM(for all programs/hardware).

I had Win7(32bit), 4gb system RAM and 1gb video RAM and LAA did absolutely nothing. I switched over to Win7(64bit) and I haven't stopped piling on the HD mods yet.

I know I have 4 RAM but only 3.5 is usable, thatīs why I use that specifically for 32 bit windows, it allows us to use more than 2 GB, I did it for my skyrim.exe and it uses more RAM but still crashes if I use those mods with high resolution, though I manage to play with those mods but wih 1028 texture sizes.Iīm hoping that bethesda fix this crashes for everyone(both 64 bit and 32 bit), itīs ridiculous that they allow us to mod the game but then the game crashes because of high resolution textures.Iīm planning on changing to 64 bit system to upgrade my RAM since itīs the only thing thatīs left to update but I need to save money for windows 7 64 bits, for a motherboard compatible with more RAM and more RAM XD although my games run on ultra smoothly, witcher 2, crysis 1 and 2, gothic 4 arcania (wich needs a better CPU than mine and 4 gb RAM), skyrim I can run on ultra smoothly but when I use high resolution textures it crashes -.-

Alright, cool. I'll give Bethesda a 9/10 for this patch because it fixed my biggest problem but the bookshelves still arent't fixed for me :(

Wait so the game wasn't optimized for Duo Core before?

So how the hell was I running this using quadcores? Poorly? Lol.

Oh btw did they remove the DRM from the silent 1.2 update or should I wait for the DLC?

6-core actually runs worse than 2 or 4 on some games.

I have not yet heard anyone with Win7 64bit having texture related crashes as long as they have flagged their .exe to run as LAA. As far as I know that problem is limited to 32bit Win7 (or 64bit without LAA enabled) because, without going into too much detail, LAA does not fix the limitations of your OS, only the .exe.

All I can say is, in my own experience, changing to Win7 64bit is your only option for texture problems. Even after Bethesda fixes LAA(which I doubt will be any different than LAA software), a 32bit OS will not address anymore RAM than it already does. It's up to you of course to make a decision but you can save yourself the worry and just wait until you get 64bit Win7 and know it will work 100% for sure. I never have any disappearing, color changing textures or crashes since Win7 x64 and LAA. As far as I'm concerned LAA is already fixed. Anything Bethesda does about it is going to be redundant.

For those that don't get it; 32Bit OS systems can only have 4GB of Virtual address space(VAS) because 2^^32 =4GB whereas 64Bit OS can have 2^^64 bytes of VAS which is a very large number (just over 18 quintillion bytes). VAS is not the same as RAM. However, the Windows 32 bit OS puts a further limitation on the amount of address space available to individual programs. The LAA bit set in a program file tells the OS to increase this limit it cannot however increase the total VAS available which is fixed by the limiations of 32Bit Systems.

(http://windows.micro.../64-bit-support) quote(italics added):
Put simply, a 64-bit PC can handle larger amounts of information than a 32-bit system. Since it can use more RAM—4 GB and up—a 64-bit computer can be more responsive when you're running lots of programs at once.
(http://windows.micro...asked-questions) quote(italics added):
The terms 32-bit and 64-bit refer to the way a computer's processor (also called a CPU), handles information. The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of random access memory (RAM) more effectively than a 32-bit system.

Now let's recap my earlier statements...
"...a 32bit OS will not address anymore RAM than it already does."
"If you have 5gb RAM on a 32bit OS and LAA, you can still only address a total of 4gb RAM(for all programs/hardware)."
Address/use/handle....semantics....and I don't see MS using the term/acronym VAS to explain things simply in the above examples. Both my statements were 100% accurate and true. I never said RAM=VAS nor did I attribute the qualities of one to the other. A 32bit OS does not have the ability to address more than 4gb of RAM as MS so simply explains. Call it VAS, call it a hot dog, call it whatever makes you feel good. A horse by any other name is still a horse.

Agreed, I was simply trying to embelish your post not criticise it.

Many users use the term RAM when they refer to memory limitations which are imposed by VAS contstraints. Hence the reason that more than 4GB of RAM in a 32 bit environment is as useles as a hip pocket in a singlet.

so if I'm using 32 bit win7 and I have 4gb ram, will enabling 4gb on skyrim do anything? cuz I have tried, but I still get the crashes. I'm not sure if it's cuz of the 32 bit business or I didn't enable it properly

IsnÂīt this program (http://www.techpower...ad.php?t=112556) here a LAA for 32 bit windows? That link was given to me after I asked if the 4 gb patch would work with my 32 bit system.The first time I tried I tested the exe both changed and not changed and IÂīm almost sure there were diferences in the RAM using while skyrim was playing.I am confused, I know the 32 bit systems only address 4 GB even if we have much more but canÂīt that program allow skyrim.exe use more RAM within the 4 gb limit?
