I seem to be having a problem with the reflections that are generated. The game uses the same far files for the reflections as it does for the lod. I have RAEVWD loaded and when I generate the LOD's some of the reflections are black. First noticed it when looking out from the docks in Bravil across the water. Just about every object that has a reflection has a black reflection. Yes I have HDR on, so that is not the issue. I know it is TES4LODGEN because if I run LOD generation from the CS it works fine (although because it is from the CS not all the objects have a reflection or LOD generated). Anyone else having a problem with black reflections?

Edit: Should have also mentioned the actual LOD's are generated and look good, it is just the reflections.

In response to post #18737779.

You are the first one to repot this. I've used TES4LODGen and RAEVWD myself and have never seen any black reflections, so looks like it is some sort of mods conflict, or oblivion settings, or video driver config, or whatever. I don't know.

Hello,

First of all thank you for sharing this tool, it does a great job.

However I'm suddenly having a problem generation LOD files for a certain mod. ImpeREAL forts - adds large, manned forts everywhere in Cyrodiil. I remember using this LOD tool a few months ago and it generated everything (including this mod) just fine, no problems. However I took a performance hit and decided to remove the files generated.

But after tweaking my game for greater performance I have since decided to use this tool again for greater quality LODs. But now I can't get it to work with ImpeREAL forts and fortresses. It is very annoying, since I know that it worked before. I wish I could more precisely describe the problem, and go into greater detail regarding what has changed since then, but I simply do not know....

All I know is that it used to work brilliantly but now it does not, and it is very frustrating. The main reason I wanted to bring the LOD detail back into the game again is because these fortresses are ENORMOUS, and it is very immersion-breaking and annoying having these massive structures just pop into view...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

NB - I have also been using this in conjunction with http://www.nexusmods...on/mods/40549/? - another LOD generator. I have used them every which way imaginable, all the different settings, different order, etc.... I have been messing around with every file now for the past 2 hours, changing mod load order, even disabling ALL MODS except for ImpeREAL forts, to no avail...

In response to post #19756469.

Problem solved.

I needed to install Really AEVWD by Several, I guess I did that before and just forgot about it.

I won't delete my post, since this may help others.

Alright, so everything works grand and it all looks fantastic. Thanks!

However, is there a way to get lower--res textures or perhaps further optimize the files created by this tool? Even on my beast of a machine that can run a maxed-out Skyrim at 80 fps, Oblivion slows to a crawl (like 8 fps in some areas) with these LODs running.

It's really quite surprising and indeed quite puzzling how much of a hit my fps takes based on non-animated, non-scripted background "eye candy". If I look in one direction where the LODs aren't drawn, I get anywhere from 65-130 fps. But I turn around and look at the Imperial City, I get 8 fps. What could possibly take THAT many resources from my graphics card to make my computer perform 1000% worse?

Does anyone know of any tricks or tweaks to enhance performance?

Thanks in advance.

In response to post #19761429.

Look at your texture sizes, especial the LOD texture sizes. Lower your Anti Aliasing.
Well, Oblivion must be treated different then Skyrim.

In response to post #19761429. #19798784 is also a reply to the same post.

I found my problem.

for some reason my uGridDistantCount in Skyrim.ini was set to 50, which was double the default value... Setting it much lower gave a massive boost. I find that the maximum I can handle and still have smooth gameplay (of at least 14-15 fps in the worst places) was 35, but I have a decent rig.

If other people are having lag issues try tweaking this parameter to find the sweet spot.
