LOL Your using one example, the movie was directed by a one time director, decent if not below par actors and a writer who didnt do his research. If someone like Jackson, Lucas or Spielberg picked up the TES story and made it into a movie you'd be eating your words.

Oh yes, because those three would definitely make a movie about a game no one knows about, especially due to the fact that all three would be paid less for making this movie than they've ever made on any other movie. Face it: IF there is a TES movie, it would have a crappy director, crappy actors, and even a crappy writer unless Bethesda writes it for them.

Prime point. Why would these renowned directors touch TES? It's not impossible, but highly unlikely.

Also true, but I will point out a few odd exceptions to that rule such as Jason Statham in "In the Name of the King" and Ben Kingsley in "Bloodrayne". More popular celebrities have been featured in other video game-based movies such as "Tomb Raider" and "Street Fighter," but I'm not convinced TES is on par with their fame.

Off-Topic: That wouldn't be good. Have you ever seen the movie Kingdom of Heaven? It's a great movie, but Bloom was terrible (he has the lead role, by the way). He's just not that good. He's fine in movies where the focus isn't on him, like LotR or Pirates, but not as the main guy.

One time I watched most of the Dungeons and Dragons movie.

It sorta sucked, and didn't pay tribute to the original board game.

Here's how I would do a Dungeons and Dragons movie:

First, I would have there be 4 nerds. A beautiful (and I mean beautiful) girl would pity them after seeing them being beaten up at school. She would make an effort to stop them from getting beaten up, and although she would succeed, it would cost her her popularity. In gratitude, the nerds let her in on their D&D game.

They would bring her before the dungeon master, a nerd with his face covered by a mysterious hood. (he may be hiding acne)

They would play their game of D&D.

The rest of the movie would be the actions of the characters that the nerds and the girl play.

Sound good?

How bout a movie "based" off of the beautiful Tamriel, with the Dunmer, the Bosmer etc. Instead of thinking of the movie to be based off one of the 4 games....how bout a totally different stroyline? Perhaps based on one of the many in-game books? Or how about a new adventure entirely? That way, no complaints from gamers saying it isnt true to "their game"(selfish bastards....I'd most likely be one of those though, lol) Keep it open I say.....Bring on the show!

Oddly enough Jacksons signed on to do the Halo movie, and oddly enough even more before I graduated, a survey was done in the paper to see if people knew what Halo was..erm..out of 400 people that did the survey 72 knew. And I'd like to know where your crystal ball is saying crappy actors/directors/writers? Whats your defination of those three? Lucas may of had crappy prequel movies as well but the first three were genius and Indiana Jones has been a huge success.

I could actually see Tim Burton picking up on this if a movie were to be made. I've made a list of directors that are capable and would do an excellent job and from they're history of movies would do a movie like TES

James Cameron - Aliens, Terminator, Robocop
Sam Raimi - Evil Dead, Spider-Man, Darkman
Ridley Scott - Aliens, Matchstick Men, American Gangster, Gladitor
Bryan Singer - Superman Returns, X-Men

There are so many great directors that could get the job done, but these are the top of the crop besides Tim Burton, Speilberg, Lucas and Jackson.

As for the Elder Scrolls not being popular?

Oblivion is not only the #1 console game, but it is also the #1 and #2 PC game in sales currently. Both the regular and the Collector's Edition are selling very well respectively, and the Xbox 360 version is the fastest selling game for that console system. Oblivion actually garnered 13% of all PC game sales in the first week of release, which just happens to be four times the volume of the previous Elder Scrolls game, Morrowind. Morrowind nearly four years after its initial release remains one of the top 25 best selling PC games of all time.

3 Million Copies have been sold (This was stated January 2007..imagine it now?)

I cant find the numbers for the other Elder Scrolls series anywhere, but meh who cares right? And take into Consideration Jackson used to be a DND nerd (He mentioned this in an interview with E!), I wouldnt put it past him to look into something like the elder scrolls.

Neill Blomkamp will be directing the Halo movie, Jackson is producing the film. Knowing that, I would not expect greatness. As far as TES becoming a movie, I'd say that given the current trend and Zenimax's procurement of the rights to said film that it is highly likely to be done sometime in the next decade. However in my opinion I do not think it will do well. Alternately I believe the potential for a successful animated series is much greater.

Well, the fact that a south african is directing the halo movie kinda sucks. I can't say bad stuff about the governement, but it is going to suck if they have say in it.

im kinda tired of everyone in hollywood trying to make a mockery of a video game. i dont know bout most people but hey if yer gonna make a movie of a video game why not use the actual storyline from the game? like resident evil i would have felt more satisfied spending 15 bucks at a theater watching a live action version of the true video game. not some hey lets completely rework the entire background of the storyline from 5 best selling games.

now to the point here.
i dont want to see someone besmirch the elder scrolls name with a P.O.S. movie.

thats a pipedream if there ever was one
but as of now tes has no real story or plot its just a ton of little ones
its like making my name is earl into a 3 hour epic movie
everything in oblivion is just a bunch of little side quests and the main quest simply isnt long enough
but i do suppose you could make a my name is earl type tv series to the game i could actually picture that happening(although it might be a little wierd getting actors)
