Neonexus right, Bethesda Bioware like pretend to support mods but in fact do everything in their power to stop constantly delaying their toolbox!!..

Sticky: quote: The Third beta update (1.4.21) Is Now on Steam. No, still not available at this time.

wait just a minute Bioware?! srsly. Bethesda hasnt delayed the mod tools as of yet. but srsly comparing the way EA treats modding aka trying to kill it and the way Bethesda supports it, is a compete joke.

also i have 1.4.21, you have to opt in for the betas

@lextanium no you can still get mods where ever you'd like

I prefer Nexus to Steam for mods. Can't imagine Steam can match the usability for a knowledgeable person searching for mods. Maybe Steam will be OK for the "masses".

Sorry, I have a question (sorry if it's silly) I'm still confused with the whole steam workshop concept. Does that mean I can only get the mods from there and not on nexus?

The steam workshop integration means you're able to upload your mods to a steam database to share with other modders. You can rate each others work too.
Think of it as Steams own Skyrim Nexus. You can still use mods from Skyrim Nexus though.

Steam workshop not only has the money but they have the loyalty of a lot of people forced or not since as we see with moderation fanboys and others its all about the law. steam will have a very good legal document about mods and rights. it will have if they perceive money making which they do nice servers. it is directly supported bethesda and it is highly likely from this day forward to be integrated directly into the launcher of beth games. they will both cash in on stealing money for hosting data on a server. the whole reason why the ck is not out is because the workshop is not ready. people will go where its more convenient and they are told it is right and lawful. if steam chooses it will win and be more successful than nexus because it is a vampire not innovator. vampires win by force money and blind allegiance to the law.
i live in reality now...

The only reason I got Skyrim on the PC was to mod it. Most of the time that I spend actually playing the game is on the PS3 though. I prefer modding my own game over any DLC content( thats why the Horse Armor got such a laugh back when it came out). My desktop might be crap, but at least I can control what I play. My old games may not look as good as COD:MW3, but I would rather pay $60 twice than shell out the endless amounts of money for map packs and special edition guns and get over 150+ hours of replay value in addition to modded content. Dont get me wrong, Im not saying that the oldest games are the best games, but least they give you 100% of your game upfront as opposed to the 60-80% that it feels like Im getting when I buy a new game nowadays. It used to be that getting 'extra content' meant beating the game on hard mode and unlocking extra characters meant beating them in a challenge tower but now it means shelling out $15.00 ea.

Given the amount of mods out already, I could probably make my game run at a decent framerate if I use all of the FPS optimizers and texture downsizers. I remember finding out about TLB(toggle lite bright) for Oblivion. That saved me a mess of trouble getting through the main quest.

This game just keeps getting better... I bought it, installed it, it was glitchy, but playable. The framerate was terrible, and either locked up or ctd every half hour. (That was with no mods, and all autosaves turned off. Now with 1.4.20, 30 mods, high on textures and the rest default medium, (except for shadows) I get 30+ fps about everywhere, and 50 to 60 fps in a lot of places, which is twice the fps I was getting on 1.3. I am playing on a home built dinosaur, (5yrs. old) Intel mb, Pentium D 2.8ghz., 3gb ram and Nvidia Geforce GT520 with 1gb ddr3. I just took Steam online and the 1.4.21 beta just installed. I am going to play, but I know game will be even better. I know that when I get my new computer this game will fly. Bethesda is trying. I wish the game had run this good a month (or 2) ago, but I am loving it now. The only new thing on my pc is the GT520 I got just to postpone buying the new computer for a while.

you know whats funny is how we dont have the creation kit yet, but our awesome community is still finding ways to pump out some really high quality stuff without it.

i understand that there is a lot we cannot do without it, but its pretty impressive to see you all perform well without it. it has been worth the wait for me. kudos to you all.

I trust Bethesda because of Oblivion and Morrowind, and the history I have with them (and their games). They won't let me down. Although I am still waiting for the Construction kit, I know it will come. Until then, our fantastic modders here on the Nexus will continue to keep me patiently waiting (well distracted).

Okay, this is rather humorous. At least to me anyway. With the Beta patch I've been getting massive performance boosts across the board. I mean it went from three messages per load screen to BARELY two. I'm not getting any hits to my FPS whatsoever. NONE. And that's with some hi-res texture mods going as well. Just effin' sweet! Then the 1.4.21 comes along and I go to load up but the main menu is taking a little longer than usual to fully load. Not much, but enough to make me think this update screwed me. That fear got shattered pretty damn fast when I hit continue and barely had time to read the first message before it was up and running. I thought it may have been a fluke so I did a few fast travels one after another and, lo and behold, my load times were just so fast I thought I was dreaming! I mean... WOW! I can suffer a little bit extra load on the front end for this. You bet your ass! No complaints. And those load times remained consistent through two straight hours of playing as well! Damn, Bethesda! You're making me fall in love with you all over again...
