I fumbled a bit in the ini's and fixed the shadows of people being extremely blocky etc!

but the shadows on the face at character creation is still very ugly and tearing!

is it even possible to made the shadow look good?

TES games always had horrible face shadows, Skyrim is one which have the best... but the nearest of real solution to that issue is getting very high shadows textures resolution what can be performance killer in most machines.

This is a sure fix for the shadows prob, this goes into your ini files, the one in your documents\games\skyrim --skyrimprefs.ini, NOT your game ones in your regular files in program files. They are laid out in order the top being for lower end computers and of course the bottom the higher end comps! don't copy and past just change the numbers and add a line or two if you need but these settings are dope! they fix the shadow issue and don't take any fps, this guy did his homework! I wish I could give credit but I don't know how to get it again!

As usual, change this values in your SkyrimPrefs.ini file (it can be found in C:\Users\*USERNAME*\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\ directory):

LOW SHADOW DRAW DISTANCE\HIGH SHARPNESS (by me, defosh369):
iBlurDeferredShadowMask=20
fInteriorShadowDistance=2000.0000
fShadowDistance=2000.0000
iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=2048
iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048
fShadowLODStartFade=200.0000
iShadowMode=4
bTreesReceiveShadows=1
bDrawLandShadows=1
bShadowMaskZPrepass=1
iShadowMapResolution=2048
fShadowBiasScale=0.2400
iShadowMaskQuarter=4
iShadowFilter=4

MEDIUM SHADOW DRAW DISTANCE\MEDIUM SHARPNESS (by me, defosh369):
iBlurDeferredShadowMask=20
fInteriorShadowDistance=2000.0000
fShadowDistance=3000.0000
iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=2048
iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048
fShadowLODStartFade=200.0000
iShadowMode=4
bTreesReceiveShadows=1
bDrawLandShadows=1
bShadowMaskZPrepass=1
iShadowMapResolution=2048
fShadowBiasScale=0.1800
iShadowMaskQuarter=4
iShadowFilter=4

HIGH SHADOW DRAW DISTANCE\LOW SHARPNESS (by thenannymoh and defosh369):
iBlurDeferredShadowMask=4
fInteriorShadowDistance=2200.0000
fShadowDistance=4800.0000
iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=2048
iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048
iShadowMode=4
bTreesReceiveShadows=1
bDrawLandShadows=1
iShadowMapResolution=2048
fShadowBiasScale=0.2000
iShadowMaskQuarter=3
iShadowFilter=4
bDrawShadows=1
bDynamicWindowReflections=1
bUseSunbeams=1
bShadowsOnGrass=1
bActorSelfShadowing=1
