Dear SKSteele,
let me begin by saying I'm not ashamed one bit. Hell, I think you're horribly entitled and annoying, SIR!
Does typing "SIR" in caps make you seem mature and reasonable? Hell no. I don't care if you're a teenager, or an old fart.
If a mod is good, people will play it. That's it. I won't pretend to care and be a kissass to everyone who stops by and downloads the mod. If you do and if you like it, great.
If you don't, whatever, we made the mod for ourselves. If you think there's something wrong with it, fine, we have a suggestion thread on our forums.
But we very clearly explained why the mod looks as it does, why it doesn't necessarily use the movie designs. And we stand by that.
Anyone who didn't read the Manual, even if we asked him to several times, doesn't have any right to ask anything of us.
Changing a design of something (elven helmets or whatever) wouldn't make it better, it would please a certain subset of players who like the movies. Heck, I like the movies.
But I like my own designs, that's why I bloody made them. And that's why they're in the mod.
So, no. That dude is not trying to make the mod better, he's asking us to give up our personal preferences for his.
So why should I appreciate his feedback? He can have his opinion, sure. But I have the right to tell him off.
Which I did, in a fairly polite way. (if you re-read the posts, I didn't curse, I simply said such "suggestions" are not uncommon and that they drive me crazy)
And here you are, a "polite" and "mature" American teenager, telling me to grow up and to keep a proper netiquette.
You know what? Go to hell.
If the mod is solid, people will play it. I can be unpleasant and impolite to people, so I am, if they piss me off, which they do.
Keep your goddamn opinion to yourself next time, please.
HAIL SATAN!

I couldn't have made a better case against you than you the one you just made against yourself in that comment, SIR. If you were polite, your comments would not be hidden due to being repped down by several people each, and I certainly would not have bothered to speak out. Not ONCE did I suggest you kiss anyone's ass. There's a big difference between ass-kissing, and common courtesy. I don't kiss ANYONE'S ass, but I TRY to be kind and courteous whenever I can.
I didn't accuse you of cursing. You can curse without being rude, and you can be rude without cursing. (As you just so artfully proved!) I'm thinking maybe YOU should go back and re-read the posts, because he DIDN'T ask you to change anything, he said the helmets don't look elven. (How dare he!) I'm glad you like your designs. I'm sure they're absolutely gorgeous. I WISH I could model 3D items. I'm sure it would be awesome. To be honest, I don't care what they look like.
That's not what nagged at me. It was your bad attitude and totally unnecessary behavior.
"He can have his opinion, sure. But I have the right to tell him off." Then, five lines later, "Keep your goddamn opinion to yourself next time, please." You damn yourself out of each corner of your foolish mouth. You're right. You CAN act like an ass and make a fool of yourself whenever you want! More power to you. But by the same right that lets you be a jerk, I can tell you what a jerk you are whenever I want.
In closing, I absolutely REFUSE to go to hell, as I do not wish to get that close to you, and I will NEVER keep my opinion to myself, it's my right as a human being and an AMERICAN to force it down your throat. (And isn't it fun, too. ^.^)
"Hail satan"? Really? =_= How about... GOD BLESS AMERICA, AND NOWHERE ELSE. *Ahem* Excuse me. SIR.

Yes, he can have his opinion. He can share it, but in his case I'd prefer if he didn't. The same with you.
As I explained to the gentleman before, "elvishness" is not an objective quality, there are no elves in real life. When he says "It's not elven enough", it means "I don't like it.", or very likely "It's not like the movies".
The Manual states our position clearly, we don't want to know if you think we should make it like the movies. We won't.
Am I being rude without cursing? I guess. So what? I don't enjoy responding to people about the same s*** over and over, I don't appreciate assholes telling me in one breath our mod is awesome and that we should totally change it. (because yeah, he did want us to change it. Everyone criticizing it wants that, you said that yourself)
What you call "common courtesy" I call "pretending to appreciate everyone who can't wait to give us his (quite probably worthless) opinion".
It's not that we don't want feedback, we'd just rather limit it to useful feedback. Unfortunately, the way internet works changes the way people are used to communicate. In a good way - I don't have to deal with all of you face to face, and in a bad way - everyone and their granny feel they're now entitled to sharing their bloody opinion with the world. "YES! Of course they absolutely need to know how I feel about the elven helmets in their mod! They'll be delighted to know I don't like them! I'm sure they'll remake them right away!
What a splendid plan, I'll do it now! While I'm at it, I'll suggest adding plate armour, I'm SURE nobody's suggested THAT before!"
Anyway, it's exactly as you say. They have a right to share their opinion, but in turn they should expect the possibility of me being unpleasant about it.
Keep up with the trolling, I don't have a problem with that.
(also, f*** AMERICA and THERE IS NO GOD)

This has been in our FAQ for quite some time and it's still very much valid.
"Q: Why are the Devs psychopathic maniacs who hate everyone?
A: Fair question. I know it often seems that we come down hard on people, or are just plain bad tempered, but please try to bear with us. Firstly, we've been at this a long time, and the continual repetition of the same old questions would begin to tell on anyone. Secondly, we all have lives. Some of us are hard up college students, most of us have jobs, and all of us have lives outside the computer. We work on TLD in our spare time, and for enjoyment. That enjoyment can begin to pall when people start demanding things as if they have a right to our time or work. I would say this is largely why TLD development is as hush hush as it is. We're here to have fun, we aren't a corporation. Most of the time it's simply easiest not to say anything, and work at our own sustainable pace."

"Hell, I think you're horribly entitled and annoying, SIR!"
He's "horribly entitled" for believing that people should be able to share their opinion? What did you get that from IGN?
"Does typing "SIR" in caps make you seem mature and reasonable?"
Does typing like an angsty teenager make you seem incompetent and childish?
"Anyone who didn't read the Manual, even if we asked him to several times, doesn't have any right to ask anything of us. "
And you expect every person to read through the entire manual? When people get a new game(or mod in this case), they want to play it, not read an 11 page .pdf about it(thus why packaged manuals are slowly being fazed out). Even if they haven't read the manual, they do have the right to vocalize their opinion. Just as you are entitled to ignore such requests, as anyone with a reasonable amount of integrity would do, rather than throwing a fit whenever someone posts something negative.
"But I like my own designs, that's why I bloody made them. And that's why they're in the mod."
Oh I get it now. The reason you have been so rudely attacking people's opinions is because you're butthurt that they didn't like YOUR interpretation of elven armor.
"Keep up with the trolling, I don't have a problem with that."
You obviously have no idea what a troll is. Simply because someone disagrees with you does not make them a troll.
"HAIL SATAN!"
"(also, f*** AMERICA and THERE IS NO GOD) "
You say these things and they only make you look even more like an angsty teenager. Grow up.

If you can't make yourself read through 11 pages of text, I don't care about your opinion.
Yeah, I'm butthurt, now kindly f*** off. Thanks.

Just give it up, T9XKR3W. He's beyond reaching. The bottom line is that nothing you or I can say will make him any more tolerable, in person or on the internet. Maybe he was born that way.
Or maybe his parents effed him up. Maybe it's all an act just to amuse himself! God only knows.
My only solace is that reasonable, sane, civilized people like you and I will realize that he's just a bitter, bitchy troll, and won't put any stock into what he's saying. Just dismiss him out of hand.
His opinion isn't worth the effort it takes to read it.
P.S. Tell him his helmets suck. Just watch. It's HILARIOUS. XD

Yeah, I'm clearly the troll here.

Thanks, I needed the laughs.
