I blame Shawk (Dovahkiin Hideout) for starting this trend and turning modding into a business. Next, EA will be in here to license it all and that will ruin it for everyone.

@Morwyn Kelm - I personally enjoy being blamed for bringing something good to the Community. I mean, when a year goes by and people find that contributions are what helped bring hundreds of amazing mods to the community, Maybe someone will remember my thieving ass.
You use my mod for so long, hate one thing, then go all rabid because I accepted donations at one point or another. Grow up. And check the terms of Nexus, you will find flipping through comments making accusations against people to be a pretty bannable offence.
@barrettsfloyd - No ones opinion is any lesser or greater because of their membership rank on this site. You donated to Nexus, I'm sure they appreciate it, but that doesn't qualify your opinion to be any higher then mine or anyone's.

Sorry to rain on your parade, Shwab, but your mod is a bannable offense:
•Offering incentives for people who donate to you
You do that plenty in your mod. Plenty.
First lines of your website (THE FIRST LINES!!!):
"Thanks for considering to Donate. I Appreciate even the thought!
By Donating you are helping to keep Dovahkiin Hideout updated as well as bring my new mods to life."
Yeah, right. Nice paypal buttons.
And don't threaten me with ban-anything. But you go ahead and revel in your silly little victory. People will remember how your whining forced this issue and how it killed an otherwise cool community. People have *always* given freely in the modder scene because that's the nature of creativity. Now it's become monetized and that's a recipe for disaster because people will become greedy and stop producing because they're not getting coins in their cup.
And by the way, I never liked your mod, I thought it was poorly made and not worthy of a vote, endorsement and certainly not a f***ing donation.

A cap of 50 cents maximum for donation purposes, to avoid the abuse of this function.
Donation is after all just a show of appreciation, and shouldn't be some large scale commission-like monetary carrot.

You seem extremely offended right now Morrowynd, You even type like you are mashing your keyboard with your face. You're mad and I understand that but breathe. Everything will be O.K.
I add books for anyone regardless of weather they donated or not, My posts on my page say nothing that changes that, you're reaching girl and it is making you look pathetic and desperate.
@Ometera - People are free to donate whatever they please. This is just silly. You will find no one earning very much regardless of there being a set amount or not, the people who do make a large amount will be because they deserve it.

Funny that you call me desperate and pathetic - I'm not the one on the street corner holding out a cup.

The person I replied to heavily implied that they felt that I was a freeloader here by using an element hider to hide the donate button here. I thought it prudent to point out that I most definitely am not a freeloader here and resent anyone implying I am.
...and on that note, have a nice thread.

This thread is most certainly getting out of hand.

LOL! It's hard enough to get people to endorse a mod, let alone donate. I don't see what the fuss is about. If someone wants to give a modder beer money for the weeks/months of effort they put into something that increases the longevity of a consumer's enjoyment of a game, I don't see the harm in it. I added the donate button to my mods as it seemed most others did. Do I expect a donation? Of course not. Would I accept one? Yeah, sure. But I would most definitely put it toward the purchase of something to make my mods better (for example, I'm really itching to get my hands on a copy of nDo2, so I can make better normal maps). But, like I said, I don't expect a donation, and I wonder if the energies put into debating/decrying this addition would have been better spent discussing an improved method of endorsing mods. Maybe a reminder pop-up when one starts the NMM (Have you endorsed your favorite mods today?). Personally, I'd rather have an endorsement than, say, a $1 dollar donation from someone as, for me, an endorsement is a better way of gauging whether or not people are actually using/enjoying my work.
At the end of the day, I've been doing this for fun and have enjoyed sharing my mods with people. That's payment enough, really. I just wish we could get folks to be more consistent about giving we modders the approval we so desperately need (lol) and taking the second to endorse the mods. When you've got something that's been downloaded uniquely 46,000 times and only endorsed 600 times, it's sort of a bummer
