I dont quite understand how the troops upgrade, do they have to be in the garrison for an extended period of time.

Smitty96, the troops automatically upgrade depending on your Kingdom Policy for your faction. There's a slider for Quantity vs. Quality upon founding your own kingdom. If you have a full court staff and own your own kingdom one of your staff members can let you change the policy a bit every few weeks.

If your a vassal for another kingdom you can not change kingdom policy.

Quality: Fewer troops, Upgrades to top levels
Quantity: More troops, only upgrades 1 to 2 levels.

Thanks! For the troops upgrade to the top tier, you have to be in an original city for that nation, correct? BTW all of your help is wonderful.

Any and all troops will upgrade/train as long as you have a barracks, range, or archery built in the fief. Don't forget that in order to upgrade ranged troops you need an range, to upgrade Calvary you need a stable, to upgrade Ranged Calvary you need an range and stable.

I'm sorry for a lack of a manual, I won't develop one until I get the game on the story phase of development because mechanics will be added and changed by the time I get there.

That's quite understandable.

The troops still aren't upgrading. I placed 250 Triarii's(no other kinds of troops) in Peachmoss, waited a month with the slider at full quality (I have 250,000+ in treasury), but not a single one upgraded. I have a barracks, practice range, and stables.

What about Akolouthos? They wear bronze armor and have better stats, The same with Proniors to Hospitaliers, and Vexivillatos to Praetorians. There is no way that I've found to recruit them, the ones I have are from the AI. Also, they're another wage category up.

Those are imperial Nobles, the Imperial's & Native factions won't have there nobles added until later. At the moment this is just a test release so very many things aren't in-game yet.

I'm currently integrating a new economy and trading system so I can fully unhinge/release SoDs limitations of Natives fake economy. Population has a class system now and this will be one of the ways necessary to receive noble troops.
