I really don't care about MMO's. But even if they do intend on making the game, I just hope it won't end up as the next TORtanic.

As long as they maintain a similar combat system, don't lower the graphical quality too much and maintain the lore I would give it a try.

I'd love if they were able to make it more of a co-op experience in a detailed, living, breathing world like Skyrim (although bigger, with more dungeons/caves/missions). Break it up into three "zones":
Single Player: A large faction-specific area geared toward the single player experience. Not just a place to grind your character, but something akin to an actual TES game on a slightly smaller scale, with a decent amount of quests, radiant quests, and a place the player can call "home" where he/she can return after both single and multiplayer adventures, with treasures in tow.

Multiplayer Realms: A HUGE chunk of real estate where you can interact in big cities, meet up with other players for quests, socialize in pubs, engage in optional PVP, etc.

And, finally, Instanced Zones; Dungeons, insane boss battles, caves and caverns, large Wars in Skyrim style battlefields, and arenas for guild combat.

If it's mod-friendly (especially the single player area) it's something that folks who aren't MMO fans (or don't want to pay a subscription fee) can play around in for ages, while the MMO aspects can be handled by Zenimax with DLC to keep things fresh. Sell it for the price of a normal TES game, offer a free two month trial, and keep the subscription cost under WoW. I'd buy it!

i cannot even begin to describe to you how much i dont want to play an elder scrolls MMO. for me the whole appeal of the series is having a hugely customizable singer-player experience limited only by your imagination and a very, very talented and lively modding scene. multiplayer kind of mutilates all that. now EVERYTHING must be reworked and rebalanced to maintain a fair playing field for human players. mods are obviously out the window, as is virtually everything you love elderscrolls, considering none of it would translate well to multiplayer (kind of like mass effect...). it would have to be a fairly new game, so i ask you... why make it an elder scrolls game? what could that IP offer to the MMO scene that isnt already there? why, when so many new MMOs have failed, when WoW is still king and people are getting tired of it anyway, would i bother with an MMO of a series with trademark gameplay that is horribly unsuited to multiplayer in any form, let alone massively multiplayer? i just really, really dont see the point of this. an elder scrolls MMO has NO place in the gaming market right now, nor any time soon. bethesda might as well announce their new line of car dealerships, it makes just as much sense as them making an MMO.

The only thing I look forward to in a TES MMO is finally being able to see Tamriel in full 3D. Other than that this better be F2P or it's a bust.

I don't dismiss it out of hand but there are so many things that can distract from the overall sense of immersion that human players are the last thing I need in my TES games.

I do hope however that the TES MMO becomes THE WoW-killer many have been waiting for. Zenimax are producing my all-time favorite games so I want them on top of the world. I'll probably subscribe out of principle and try to play it with an open mind.

I dont pay fees for mmos. There are plenty of free ones out there with some of them rivaling pay to play games (even though many have item malls). I dont mind the Guild wars concept, where you pay for the game and that is it, but paying X dollars a month to play a game just isnt worth it to me.

If it really good then I would like the game and support it, but I wont play it. I might be missing out but I get much more enjoyment out of my single player games than I do fee paying mmos. It would nice if there was a compromise, where it is FTP with an option to pay for additional features, but I hate it when games are centered around PVP and the only way to survive wars and faction battles is to use the item mall to get everything. It tends to ruin game economies, since people just buy off of the online store and sell things at jacked up prices ingame. This is made worst by the fact that drop rates of these special items tend to be next to nonexistant and grinding to level up becomes next to impossible without item mall exp boosters and weapon/armor upgrade materials.

The key to making a good mmo for Zenimax will be in finding the balance between making money and giving customer support. If they focus only on making money they will get bad PR. If they dont give FPT members a fair shot at getting to the top of the game, then they look bad for being cheap or money grabbers and again, bad PR. The best games tend to have an active and friendly community. Hopefully, if the Nexus is any guideline for the condition of the TES/Fallout community, then they shouldnt have many problems with trolls or unhelpful players.

If they keep a lid on gold spammers and bots, provide fair costumer support, and take a heavy stance against trolls, jerks, and player killers, they should be good to go^^. Oh, and not to mention good gameplay and graphics. Those are good too^^.

But it is sort of weird dont you think? If they have been working on a TES/Fallout mmo for the last 4 years, you would think we would have seen some screenshots or some leaked information or other content about it by now. :/

Maybe I just havent been paying enough attention( head in the sand :D).

I'll keep my eye on this for sure. As much as I love Skyrim and have wanted to play it with buddies, and MMO sounds good.

I really think Star Trek Online perfected the F2P thing for MMO's (IMO TF2 perfected the whole F2P thing in general) But back to STO the only things that you buy are purely cosmetic. You don't have to pay to unlock new areas or super items ect.

Seeing as it would be the first MMO they would do, I would think there is no way they would do F2P, TOR is a perfect example of this. LOTRO and Guild Wars is the only two game that I know of the was really made for and flourished on F2P, because I play them all the time and have premium memberships because they are so good.

As long as it truly does not copy and paste WoW, LOTRO, SWTOR, or any other MMO I will be happy to pay a fee just like I do with The Old Republic.
