@onabee - Try this:
Putting these under General in your ini restores the shadows back to normal
bTreesReceiveShadows=0
bDrawLandShadows=0
bGrassReceiveShadows=0
I did this and performance issues...gone! Hope this helps!

Well, I fixed the crazy flashing shadows. For anyone else getting this who use Nvidia cards, check their site for an update. Turns out they released a sizable driver update on the 22 that Skyrim requires. Also boosts performance a bit
. Now, I have 0 bugs with 1.5.26 and loving it!

Oh Gods! Here we go again.
I am going to have to update no matter what. I can't live with not being able to see anything underwater. I am also getting the random CTDs when I enter modded areas and even vanilla areas that have modded NPCs that use the navmeshing.
I know this patch will be the forced update type in a week or less anyway. My guess is that Tuesday we see this hit live to fix the glaring problems that 1.5 seems to bring out. That whole underwater nightmare is too big a problem not to fix ASAP.
I keep playing Bethsoft games and smacking myself in the head repeatedly despite my many hours of obsessive and fun playthoughs. I just wish this was not the standard deal with every game they have ever released. Go back in the gaming archives and you will find hundreds of pages devoted to how Daggerfall was an amazing game, if you could ever play around all the bugs and glitches.
Case in point being that Oblivion and Fallout 3 and New Vegas just had Unofficial Patch updates. Oblivion is 7 years old and it is still getting unofficial update patches.
I just grit my teeth and keep swinging or shooting at whatever is in front of me. No abuse like self abuse. : {P
I have managed to play over 5000 hours of Bethsoft games since 1995, so I would say there is a way to keep playing no matter how much I scream and yell "FUTH!!!".

WARNING!!!
If you do not want to update to the Beta, DO NOT LOG IN TO STEAM!!
It just forced the update on me when I restarted my computer. I had it set to not update, but as previously stated, that does not work.
I was not even given a choice whether I wanted to be a part of the beta. Once the update starts you can't do anything but let it finish, and then roll back to a previous backup, if you had the foresight to do so.
I was planning on updating anyway, but I wanted to warn everyone else. Steam is the most annoying product platform I use, by which I mean the not being able to disable the forced updates, no matter what I try. I also have three other games that do the same thing with Steam, so it is not just a Bethsoft feature where they want to force the update despite the customers wishes and desires.
EDIT- Well that was quick. Already done in the time I was typing this. Off to test the patch and see if it fixed my underwater glitch and the CTDs. Wish me luck, I'm going in!
Another edit-
I got downrated for what? Trying to help people out by warning about the auto-update? Sheez, that's real mature. What was it about my post that got downrated? Would seriously like to know what was wrong with trying to help out the Nexus community.

You should really make a partition through Boot Camp and install Win7 on it, and then play your games rebooting into Win7. The Mac makes it easy for you to do this, and you really should do it this way. It will make your life much easier and more efficient for gaming.is the bate out for mac i play on pc mac and xbox but i need help with the installing of mods some one needs to make a mod mangier for mac HELPPPPP ME!!!!!!!!
