Hello,

Please help me with my problem. Sometimes my game crash when I load new area/open map. It didn't happen before, on previous patches it worked perfectly.

I have also blackscreens (but sound keep going) sometimes totally random.

Most of those problems I have outside.

What I tried:

- updating graphic drivers
- lowest graphic settings, nothing changed
- changing to 44.1K Hz
- some random fixes

My PC:

GeForce 250 GTS
Realtek sound card
3.25 GB RAM
Windows XP SP3
Core2Duo 7500

Temperatures - 60 maximum.

As I told game doing blackscreen/crash totally random. Average once for 15 minutes. It's so annoying and makes game unplayable. :/

I just loaded skyrim and it crashed.

I also started to getting some graphical artifacts. :/ I don't have any artifacts in other games.

you seem not having the requirement for the game, ?, the game ask minimum 4 gb and 1gb in graphical card, so, i view you write only you have 3.25 gb, but you can try this, make a validation of your local disk cache by steam, if all going well try to uninstall reinstall direct x, (sometime it's her the problem), and try this for one of your problem http://skyrim.nexusm...le.php?id=13071

after do you have put something old in you my document/my game/skyrim / ? try to remove this folder (Skyrim, but put it in a safe place), it's just a test to view if it's your .ini they make the crashif you have put old thing

after i have view you use windows xp dual core, i have make a post on it, i have found on windows site...

ok i have retrieved the post read it and go on the windows site whit the link,

it'S seem the people they have windows xp and a dual core have some problem, it's can help...

XP can't have more memory than 3.25 GB so how the hell minimum req. can be 4 GB?

I will try this update but I have an auto update on my XP so I don't think it will help. But.

I noticed few things, game crashing most often in whiterun when I entering the inn or just running around. I can play 1h sometimes wthout crash when I am far away from Whiterun. Strange. :/

But anyway it crasing sometimes when I enter cave or something. During loadings anyway.

PS: Yea this update is included in SP3.

I'd just like to point out that XP can utilize more than your specified 3.25GB of memory. Windows XP Professional x64 Edition can have up to 128GB of memory. However, it's far less common and far less compatible than the x86 XP, or x64 versions of future Windows systems. (Vista, 7)
I can relate to the random crashes and whatnot, but for me its been constant ever since release. There was a period where I could play fine using Skyboost, but that's incompatible until Bethesda stop patch-mania and Alexander decides he wants to work on it. :/

EDIT: Also, I have the same graphics card as you. What kind of framerates are you having, and how often are your crashes? I've got no proof of it, but I've got the weirdest feeling that our graphics cards just aren't good enough, despite being only a smidgen under the recommended GTX 260.

Well I have good fps on max settings so I don't think thats the problem.

I totally cleaned my graphic card drivers (driver cleaner pro), installed fresh and somehow.. I don't have crashes or blackscreens. I am just getting graphical artifacts sometimes (after I visit few different loactions) and I have to restart skyrim/pc. It's like longer I play then more likely chance I have for graphical artifact.

I am thinking if it can be fault of never reinstalled windows xp.. (nearly 3 years). Or maybe I am still failing at installing graphic drivers properly.
