Are the Cannon Fodder factioned with the NCR or something? Because after killing them, I flew over to Camp Golf and everyone there started attacking me for no reason. I am "Idolized" by the NCR so I don't understand why they would do that. I loaded a save before I killed all the cannon fodder and the NCR didn't attack me, so it had to be because of killing the cannon fodder.

This. Lowering the cruise altitude would probably also help.

i am wondering why this issue hasent been fixed yet. even if you do hit something with no damage mode it should not crash. i still cant trace this bug to anything anywhere and it looks like ermeso ha sent had a chance to reply either

so after the struggle of getting to land (takes some practice) when i refueled well...instead of giving me gas it took it all away, so if i took off i seem to just fall out of the world.

Re posting here because it is more of a bug report than a comment

I think i found the cause of the mysterious crashes.

i know this is a known bug where your flying and randomly crash like you hit a wall, however i believe that the issue is not invisible walls like i originally thought. i can now replicate this collision bug at will .

it appears to be triggered during the transition from cruise mode to hovering mode. at this point in time i believe that the cause is the engine mistaking the sudden drop in maximum velocity for a sudden stop basically while traveling down at high velocities the transition from cruise to hover is treated like powering the aircraft into the ground. so naturally the engine believes there is a collision where none exists and crashes the aircraft.

i think the fix for this would be to redesign the way hover mode vs cruise mode works. perhaps a safer transition and more gradual slowdown along with a button to toggle between cruise and hover instead of relying on arbitrary altitude information. also since cruise altitude appears to be a bit inconsistent i believe that altitude is calculated by distance from ground rather than absolute Z. this agrivates the bug because while flying over mountains you can ocasionally drop out of cruise when your not ready to thus the invisible wall effect

another thing that can cause crashes are non vanilla companions such as willow. these companions have a following script that teleports them to the player if they get too far away. needless to say that body parts have a bad habit of breaking propeller blades XD .

the odd thing is that it is fairly easy to detect companions or at the very least generate a item you can place in a companions inventory that contains the scripts needed to make them get inside the vehicle. why this happens is also beyond me
