DC Madness: Eleven
One 10.2[12]{13}

JackOman took them through a maze of platforms, tunnels, up rampway tunnels, through big public chambers, and further through what had became known as Hubcity. Hubcity was of major importance to Subwayers, in that sector, but that sector was fairly isolated from their 'heartland sectors'.

When they found somewhere to stay it was actually a small complex used by FTroopers and related clones of FWorkers and others. It turned out that the supersoldiers, superworkers, and others had been assisting the Subwayers with various deadly threats in the sector and had earned Subwayer citizenship, allowances, allocations, gifts and awards. They had helped to save thousands of lives including that of much prized livestock and working-pets.

The group split up to different quarters for each faction and to much needed food, drink, hot showers and sleep.

Of course, from the moment they first approached the underground settlement, they had been carefully observed and reported on to central authorities.

DC Madness: Twelve
One 11.1[13]{14}

Negotiations with the local Subwayer Leadership Council were surprising brief and to the point. The Subwayer political, civil, security, legal, industrial and other representatives were led by a Chairperson along with a Treasurer and Special Secretary. They may have expected the process to be difficult but were amazed when they were offered to ability to copy all of the information that the time capsule had held on three conditions that the council quickly agreed to; firstly that the data be treated with great care for some of it was dangerous, especially if it fell into the 'wrong' hands, secondly, that the council send, by most secure means possible, copies of the data to the Subwayer Federation's unnamed capital, and that thirdly copies be sent to a short list of other DC Factions; this included the Order of Steel, the Regulators but also others of surprising nature.

The FEAR, Regulator and Order of Steel leaders had worked out that such a course of action had its risks but was necessary. Both the FTroopers and Regulators vouched for the reliability and surprising honesty of the Subwayers.

In return the Subwayers would send a small team to go with the expeditionary force, mostly being useful, experienced and skilful specialists. They would also assist in other ways to be worked out soon. As for now the expeditionary team would need to stay at Hubcity for a few days for further negotiations on finer points, with other meetings, other activities and also to take an opportunity for rest-recreation; both the Steel Troopers and Regulators had been out in the field for months.

DC Madness: Thirteen
One 12.1[14]{15}

Senior Elder Owen Lyons examine copies of the information from inside the time-capsule. It was spread across the table before him and there were others examining it. There were Sages, Scribes, Sappers and yet others who could make at least something useful of what was there.

Elite Paladins, and Knights, stood on guard around the great chamber in elite power armour that had more enhancements, extras, than did standard power armour.

Many there were eager to grab up bits of the data and to carry it off to their various own areas of work but Elder Lyons would not have it so. He spoke. "There is a pattern here, hidden inside the mass of data given over to us, I know it. So we must examine the lot of it here, first. Also we must categorise, classify, it in various ways. Security concerns, both long and short term, demand that we do so. One of the first tasks is to add data to a new holographic projection map. If any of you get too eager for your own good, if you try to sneak items out of this chamber, you will be terminated."

The last words were harsh but necessary. Some of the Sages were very egotistical, driven, and far too likely to take such chances.

Senior Sage Reginald Rothchild gave two Sages, in particular, a hard sharp look. The female male twins were infamous for their ambition and driving desire to gain as much scientific knowledge as possible. They were geniuses but troublesome to deal with on a social level. They were Amis and Onis Asimov. The two frowned but even they knew better to push matters. Still, they were eagerly scanning the data before them.

There was a great deal of careful, painstaking, work to be done.

DC Madness: Fourteen
Zero 2.1[2]{16}

The LittleFatMan studied the enlarged display of DC Robots with mild pleasure. He had added a fixed up, brand new looking, MrHandy of a particular type to a big display case with two other MrHandys but of different models. Then there was a captured Enclaven eyebot in a special display case with three non Enclaven models of eyebots. Only the Enclaven eyebot had a weapon being a short ranged but deadly pulselaser-gun. The other three were a peaceful security model, a scientific survey model and an expensive toy.

The real prize was the dull bronze metallic coloured humanoid robot of an unknown kind. It had been found, partly wrecked, just a hundred or so metres from a crashed zetan general purpose saucerboat. Zetans were aliens, were Greynari human hybrids of a kind. They were less dangerous than Greynari in equal numbers but were in far larger numbers than were the 'more powerful grey humanoids'. It was no real surprise that the robot humanoid was shaped like a zetan but with smoothed out metallic features and a fake armour making up most of its body. Nor was the name of 'zetanoid'.

The LittleFatMan burped, scratched his belly through his rich purple coloured dinner vest, and examined the other robots on display being wheeled sentrybots, a series of humanoid Tron type robots, a tracked brainbot with a fake cloned brain showing in a top dome, a big one wheeled securatron, a smaller claptrap that looked oddly like the securatron, a mobile NukaCola vending-robot, and a few others including a small robotic electric taxicar.

The LittleFatMan knew that his deep, recent, urge to collect robots had hidden meaning to it that he was yet to discover on a more conscious level.

The silvery metallic sphere, it did not look like an eyebot, floated through the air and halted before him. It spoke in a warm, silky, woman's voice. "Master, we have found some more robotic prizes for your collection. All proper criteria, for favoured collectable items, have been met."

The LittleFatMan smiled at the idea his 'collectables' would not be stolen from any body else, would not be taken from well preserved secured collections or would break other of his protocols.

The silvery servosphere spoke again. "We have also made some other, very exciting, discoveries thanks to our search for the collectables."

The LittleFatMan grinned mildly with appreciation for the last bit of given information. For now he 'sensed' that he had found the fundamental reason behind his urge to collect robots.

DC Madness: Fifteen
One 13.1[15]{17}

It was not long after the last secured copies of the time-capsule data were sent out that the large scale attack began on Hubcity. Fighting was savage as the Regulators, FTroopers and Steel Troopers joined Subwayer Federation Guards, along with other forces, to counter attack.

The enemy were well equipped and oddly well disciplined supermutants in special made body-armour and with some specialised weapons designed for their use. There were the same kinds of supermutants, or so it seemed, being classed by size-weight and yet there were also bulky muscular human sized ones that were smaller than other types of supermutants. The bigger, stronger, the type the less common they were which was good in one way for the bigger they were the more powerful weapons and heavier armour they had. Yet they also were bigger targets. These supermutants were even better controlled, and equipped, than the new kind that had suddenly appeared in the National Mall.

With them came zyclops, bizarre glistening acid-toxic spitting creatures, which were sometimes seen with supermutants but there were also monstrous supermutant hounds; these radiation mutagenic changed canines wore terrible spiked armour but there massive fangs, and powerful bodies, were their main weapons.

Fighting spread through a variety of approach areas to the city proper, being a three dimensional underground battle.

JackOman fired off his battlerifle, doing a short burst, before he dropped behind cover and scurried along. Portable remote controlled gun-turrets were blazing away at the supermutants, blasting into them with 12.7mm and 20mm calibre projectiles. Two metamoths, the smallest kind of supermutants there, dropped and then a bigger megamoth dropped to its knees screaming out in agonised rage.

Sara Lyons fired off a missile launcher, the missile literally blowing a behemoth in half even as one of her comrades was shot down, the armoured figure dying almost at once as 20mm autocannon shells slammed into him.

The fighting went on until the attackers abruptly withdrew, taking their dead, wound and equipment with them that was still useful or maybe useful.

While the defenders had suffered some losses, the attackers had suffered at least as three times as many thanks to careful, clever, preparations made by the Subwayers against any such attack. Sarah was angry that she had lost one comrade but knew it could have been a lot worse. One Regulator was badly wounded and though she would recover, she would be remaining in a Hubcity hospital for at least a month to come.

The FTroopers had killed very many supermutants and none had come even close to being hurt. They had attacked the enemy from the rear, striking and killing only to vanish away with amazing speed. Even the supermutants were soon becoming frightened of them.

It only turned out later that the whole bloody attack had been a diversion for a failed attempt to gain copies of the data from the time-capsule.

Zombies From the Sky: Eleven

One 10.1[10]{11}

Quinn, Katrina and Salina were the now paler damphir triplets who had lost their parents to the strange glittering mist, they becoming zombies, yet they had never really been close to their mother and father so did not miss them much. In truth their parents had exploited their older children's talents to make a fortune that they had stolen for themselves. For the first time the three of them felt free. That is except for being stranded on a mysterious, uncharted, island.

Why mysterious? They found the first signs of the island's strangeness when they spotted the black flying creature; the second one was when they found the first of the exotic plants. The large meatpod bush was not only odd in its features but a metal plaque gave information about it in several languages along with dates of several calendars. It was very broad with many branches and seemed to be very mature of growth, having many of the odd meatpods. The plaque was bolted to a large boulder that seemed to have been placed close to the meatpod bush to display the plaque.

Quinn spoke of the plaque. "Date, and the slight rustiness of the steel, indicates that the bush was planted here about 41 years ago as part of something called Project Flora Divine. There is a name here being Project Director Esmaralda Moreau along with some codes and numbers."

Katrina carefully picked a meatpod, with its thick looking skin, and took a sniff at it. She then nodded. "I 'sense' no threat in tasting it. Perhaps we should take a couple to show the professor and his daughter."

When they heard the gun shots, from the encampment that was not too far away, they set out at once to return to the others. They found that one of the deck hands had gone into a strange fit and then had died; instead of staying dead he had become a zombie, lurching clumsily to its feet with obvious aggression. The Second Mate had put a bullet through its head, killing it at once.

The doctor scowled. "The man had some type of stroke, it appeared, died and then the poor devil became a zombie."

The triplets came into the area of the encampment, having moved with amazing speed to get there, in time to hear the Second Mate respond. "It looked more like one of those fits that some scientists say has something to do with the brain. Epilepsy is what they call it."

The doctor frowned hard at the Second Mate, clearly thinking that the man was 'going above his station' to dare to question a medical practitioner.

Quinn spoke. "Perhaps there is more than one kind of immune. Let's hope so because we do not want all immunes turning into zombies."

Katrina held up one of three meatpods that she had brought with her. "We have found something important and it is not just these odd looking meatpods."

The group was soon holding a meeting to discuss various matters including the horrible zombification incident and the find that the triplets had made.
