I'm still really interested in this mod! There is another Brynjolf marriage mod out, but yours with all the extra voice work seems to me of a much higher quality. :)

Hi Kryptor, glad to see you are still plugging away with this mod. I am patiently awaiting the piece de resistance. Like many people I can't wait to have an actual conversation with Bryn instead of two or three lines of dialogue.

In all fairness, the "Friendly Brynjolf" author did a pretty good job with what they put together. It does not in any way go into the detail that you are with your mod, so we wait :wallbash: Oh, I forgot, I am suppose to be patient, right I'll work on that my friend (she says, grinning & with fingers tapping a stuccato on the table top) LOL:)

Keep up the great job I am sure it will be worth all the hair pulling you are doing once it is finished.

Thank you for all the continued support for this mod! It's really wonderful to know that so many are still anxiously awaiting the next update (though it does increase the pressure to make sure that the wait will be worth it). I really hope that the end result is not a disappointment.

Here's the latest update: I'm back to working full-steam on this mod (at least as full-steam as work and RL allow). Greentea101 has been helping me the past two weeks with new voice editing, and he's given me some really great voiced responses to work with. In all, the next update will probably double (possibly more than double) the number of voiced lines that Brynjolf and Vex currently have as followers. Many of these are simple responses, though, so don't expect any lengthy conversations.

Also, I've reworked the mod this past week so that it now includes two parallel follower systems. The new default for the mod will allow them to be recruited through the standard follower quest, which means that they will be compatible with Convenient Horses, Ask Follower Skills, and other mods that rely on followers who are part of the CurrentFollowerFaction. I'm not yet sure how this will work with UFO, EFF, and other multi-follower mods, which is why I've also left the original stand-alone system in place (you can switch back to this system with a console command). I'm also making some of the dialogue choices, such as the "relax here" command, optional so if they do get duplicated by other follower mods, you can choose to turn off these dialogue features. Overall, I'm hoping that the new version will be flexible enough to allow the various features to work well alongside most of the other follower mods that are out there.

Additional new features will be 1) a "loot bag" which is a separate, unequippable storage bag that can be accessed through dialogue just like the "trade" dialogue (eventually, I plan to add an option to have them sell/fence these items for you, but that feature will have to wait for a later update). 2) A dynamic outfit system, where they will change outfits in response to both location and what the player is wearing. For example, if you enter a city, Brynjolf will change into his "city" outfit, or if the player changes into Nightingale armor, then he will respond by donning his. This can also be customized in various ways through dialogue (you'll have some basic options when they're followers, and more in depth options if they're your spouse). 3) Once married, you will be able to ask them to move in with you in any of the vanilla houses (support for homes/locations added the official DLCs will come later). If your spouse lives in Riften, then they will continue to commute to the Guild daily. If they live in any of the other 4 cities, then they will have schedules that will take them to visit other areas of that city (they won't just sit and sulk in your house all day). I'm still working on adding support for a few custom-selected houses as well (though these packages won't be as complex as the ones I can create for the vanilla houses). 4) To alleviate any frustration at not finding your spouse at home, I've added optional quest markers that can be used to track them down.

Many of the options have been inspired by this amazing mod from DreamKing. Many of the features I've been wanting to implement for Brynjolf and Vex have already been done very well by this mod. DreamKing has been incredibly generous to provide his scripts as a resource, which is saving me a lot of time from having to figure out all the mechanics on my own.

Now for the bad (or at least not quite so good) news... I haven't been able to really get much of the "wedding"/"marriage" dialogue to work. The voiced files I've hoped would be possible just aren't coming together like I hoped. Therefore, most of the wedding dialogue will be silent. Currently my intention is still to have any repeatable dialogue responses remain voiced, and just one-time dialogue conversations will be silent. There will be some shift in the way that Brynjolf and Vex talk to you if you marry them (Vex's dialogue will probably reflect this change a bit more than Brynjolf), but neither will be as dramatic as I would like it to be. I just can't find the dialogue to support it. I've also decided to keep the "wedding" as a small personal dialogue exchange rather than a more elaborate scene. In part because a fully silent "scene" involving several actors seems much more awkward then just a silent exchange between the player's character and their loved one. Also, I just decided that I would rather keep the one-time wedding event simple and focus my energy on adding more features that will hopefully add interest and functionality to their role as a follower (and spouse).

The largest issue that I'm still debating is the "courting" process. A really neat feature of DreamKing's Aela is that you have to earn her respect through doing various jobs, quests, and other actions while she is there to witness you (actually just spending time with her is one of the factors). My original intention for Brynjolf/Vex was a simple little heist for a particular object which would then open up the marriage dialogue option. However, I do rather like the idea of having to actually steal, pickpocket, unlock locks, complete quests, and basically just spend time together to gain their respect and love over a period of time (Brynjolf would probably need significantly fewer "respect points" than Vex given that you've already been through a lot with Brynjolf by the end of the questline).

So anyway, that's where I am with the mod. I'm hoping that I can get a beta version completed by the end of February. I know it's been a long wait, and again I just want to say thanks for all the support and encouragement.

Awesome, I just stumbled onto this mod as I was searching for other things, and I have to say WHOOOHOOO!! I really hope you get the marriageable part done, as brynjolf is my all time favorite character in Skyrim.  That voice of his just makes me melt lol, and I was soooo mad when I found i couldnt make him a follower or marry him. So seeing this mod has given me hope at last!!   Keep up the good work, cant wait till i can marry my brynny!!

I am really liking the sound of this mod and hope it will work out in the end. I like the idea of having to make them respect you, but I certainly think Bryn would be easier to convince, given the questline. I can't really say much more that hasn't been said.

Ah, I've been waiting for something such as this since Skyrim's release, but what you have planned is something that seems more than a simple marriage mod and more in-tune with the theme of the guild. The thieves guild was perhaps my favorite questline in Skyrim and anything that adds to it is right up my alley. Looking foward to this quite a bit!

 

Have you considered adding to their backstory at all beyond what is already known, or are you steering away from that to stay as vanilla to their stories as possible and just cater to the marriage content? Maybe little dialogue options could open up when you reach a certain amount of respect points, such as "I never asked you, how did you end up with the guild?" or "Do you have any family?"(And perhaps you could answer back for roleplaying purposes) etc. Just an idea.

Hey, I saw that new mod release Falskaar by AlexanderJVelicky. In one of the videos they have a voice actor who sounds kinda similar to Brynjolf's voice actor. Maybe you can shoot him a message and track down that voice actor, just a thought.

Ive always thought marriage in skyrim boiled down to one of my favorite lines from a movie *Wanna Breed!*.... So I am glad your considering this mod. I kind of liked how SWTOR did it. You had gifts and speech or quest options that increased your rep 'as it were' with the subject. It mimicked dating in a way. Maybe having dinner with them or giving them something or being interested in their background might be options. In Arthmoor's  new beginning mod he just used captions with no speech for some of the quest subjects that didn't have voice options. You might be able to do that here as well.

 

As far as after the marriage, I have no clue other than the stock options that are there. Vex in a thong maybe?? LOL couldn't resist sorry
