It lost me after the first sentence. No real-time combat.
I have been playing TERA recently, and if TERA is able to do a real time combat system (or at least the closest to it that I've seen in a AAA MMO) where the vast majority of abilities need to be aimed with no locking-on (tab-targeting), there is no reason why ESO can't either. Don't give us the latency issue bit either. In today's world with regional servers, for the vast majority of players latency issues are not the issue.
As they said on Kotaku in their front page story. "The more we read and see about this game, the less excited we are about it."
ESO Game Informer article leaked

The funny thing about all these negative reactions with people complaining about the graphics being bad.....they'd be the first people screaming on the boards about how they're only getting 8 FPS in a town on their lowest computer settings once they realize they're in the midst of 300 other players all eating up their processing power.

I read the article the other day and so far I'm not impressed. They seem to be gutting a lot of what people would consider core elements of the Elder Scrolls games. Of course, there are people that feel that way about Skyrim, too.
I'm not going to pass final judgement on it just yet, though. There are still far too many unknowns to do that. That single article wasn't enough to give me a clear understanding of the game. I'm also not a big MMO player. I've played a total of 3 MMOs, and none of them in the last couple of years, so I really don't have a good point of comparison.
And lastly, I'd be willing to give it a try because I believe a world and it's lore can exist across multiple genres. While the gameplay might be different, if the world itself is recognizable as Tamriel, then that might be enough. Heck, if it was done well, I might even be willing to give a TES RTS game a try.

I know I have said this before on other news topics related to the MMO, but I would ask that people actually read the article, word by word, before talking about it.
Many are falling into the trap of reading only the first two pages and seeing "it will be familiar to MMO players" and thinking "this must be a WoW clone". however if you take a minute to look at all the gameplay features listed you would see that the game's only real connection to WoW is that it has a hotbar.
All other gameplay elements are, if anything, from guild Wars 2.
The game even has blocking, and not dice-roll blocking, and sprinting, which would give it a pseudo-realtime gameplay.

The screens make it look like it will be set in Cyrodil (I found an Ayleid Ruin pictured somewhere)
Im pretty sure the Ayleid empire was only in Cyrodil idk
I wish Zenimax wouldve been more imaginivte and not gone with run of the mill MMO

I will definitely give it a try. Not only for the lore, but for all the game mechanics described.
The only thing bothering me so far is the argonian/dunmer and the kajiht/aldmer alliances…
I really need the racist/slave mood from morrowind back.
That being said, the game looks great, the gameplay seems good, original idea are in there. Some stuff is from others great MMO.
I look forward to it, but if it's more an MMO than a Elders Scroll, i will just have to log off, not a big deal.

@artigus
It is set all over Tamriel. But some place like Winterhold will be locked-out for future content.
I found out on GI at the end of the video they might let people make mods. But it will be different, and I agree on how they are approaching this. Stuff like the UI, they will let modders make it how they like. But cheat stuff, like armor and more won't be available, I wouldn't want someone making armor or weapons and can make them overpowered or something. Skyrim and the SP TES is different, for me and a lot of people. Modding in Armor and weapons is not cheating in SP TES, but in the MMO it is because how the game is designed.

I'm just hoping it plays more like Champions Online than WoW. Cryptic did a good job with real-time combat before Perfect World took over. Although I didnt like the talents/skills setup in CO, it would be better than the class system hinted at in the leaked article.
As for modding, I hope they can include some form (a simple and easy to make) player made quest mod making tool. It could/would kill NPC quest givers forever!, and truly move the MMO to the next level IMO. Whats the point of a MMO if its nothing more than a single player game (NPC quest givers) with the option of PVPing and bragging rights?

Sounds like an attempt to update asheron's call and not much of an update either with the low quality graphics which are only a mild step up from asheron's call.
