I just hate class and level systems in MMO's.
I dont want to spend a month to level up. and after your max level there is nothing todo.
There is so much to innovate in MMO's but no company is doing it, just cash cows.

The fact that its the hero engine puts me off The old republic is horrible for pvp and large scale content
I was lways hopeful the eldar scrolls would remain a single palayer game and remain untouched by the taint of the mmo genre especially seeing how the old republic actually turned out
Guess its a matter of Bethesdas stance on how the series will be held from now onwards

@Boogiepophantom
ToR used a primitive, unupdated form of the hero engine.
Also Bethesda isn't making the MMO, nor are they the ones calling the shots, nor is the MMO affecting the development of the single-player games.
It isn't them deciding how the series will move forward. It's just Zenimax Online making a side-game in the series.

Blizzard is a huge company with several divisions and studios, yet we know that Warcraft never did and never will get a sequel after WoW.
Bethesda and ZoL are part of the same company. just because it's a different team doesn't mean that TES will not be negatively affected by TES online.

On the plus side, it might be nice to relive the second era a little. I'd rather see what's going down in the fifth era, but we'll have to wait for TESVI for that, I guess.
On the down side, this is a multiplayer game, and that's uncharted territory for Zenimax. So far, they've only done acquisitions (which doesn't require the kind of communication skills that a multiplayer game requires). If they think that they can just use a few marketing goons to do all their community coordination, they have another think coming. That's for damn sure.
With a one-player game, you can engage in this hit-and-run tactic of bombing the community with your half-baked implementations, but that won't fly at all in the multiplayer community. They do not want that kind of backlash.

Anyone else read that Kotaku article? What a joke. If you have to ask yourself "How do I balance gaming with my social life?" you don't have a social life. A social life directly interrupts your gaming whether you like it or not. So you do what most people do, you either dump your social life for gaming or you game where you can find time. Must have been a slooooooooooow news day in the gaming industry.
As for ESO, I won't play it but only because WoW killed my MMO gaming career. I got tired of them dumbing down the game into a dungeon crawl grind with loot pinatas at the end. Every idiot man-child was getting epics and thought spamming 3 buttons made them a good player. Oh, and they constantly broke PVE gameplay to shutup whining PVP players. I won't ever play an MMO again. It is ONLY about money when it comes to MMOs. And if, on the off-chance ESO ends up severing the head of the single player TES games, then Bethesda can kiss my money goodbye. But honestly, I don't think they'll stop making TES games due to ESO. It's set in the past, whereas WoW continued forward from Warcraft, therefore ESO won't interfere in anyway with future lore developments.
