Try not clicking on the dds file just yet, instead load up gimp and hit "Open" and look for it that way, if it is giving you an error message you'll need to post what it is, but gimp doesn't automatically select these dds files to be opened with gimp by default, plug-ins or not

The error is:

Gimp Message
Failed to open 'C:\Programas\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Textures\characters\SariEyes\Acid.dds':
Type of file unidentified

are you sure you installed the plug-ins correctly and you have gimp 2.4.5 (GIMP 2)

so my gimp can now read dds. but im now interested in a new thing since ive changed race that uses a different eye texture than the older one
So my problem is that i want to become a vampire but if i become one my char eyes will become mixed up . So is there any possibility to make nec mystic high elf remake race have vampires eyes with the rens textures ( cuz this race uses ren eye texture)
but only this race would use them...
Is this possible with somekind of script or something like that?

Good assumption, graffiti, but I'm sure Ren's has eye textures to overwrite the vampire default eye textures, you haven't seen a file named vampire or anything?

The ren mod i have came with cosmetic compilation so im not sure if these are the only textures that ren made
Anyway with this mod ive got some textures called vampyress and eyevampire( the default file for vampire eyes).
This eyevampire is not the vannilla ( because of drokks vampire mod i think). This probably doesnt matter as it has the same texture as the default eyes.
Then i searched for ren folder but i only found some eyes textures ( ren eye1-4 and odd eyes- the so called mystic eyes that are used by nec mystic high elf remake race)
So for now i havent found any textures that would overwrite the vampire textures as for ren races nor for all other races that use different eyes textures :(
In last option i wouldnt mind to get npcs eyes googled if mine would stay fine but after seeing gimp I have no idea how to turn a default texture into a ren texture

Ren's are stacked to the left of the image, while the default oblivion eyes are one big eye, rather than two eyes on one file. anyway I'd say you are better off making your own out of the compatible textures you do have, or simply settling with just one eye texture you like. that sounds like an easy enough answer to come this far for.. seriously, are you going to start changing eyes before you rest now?

well tomorrow im gonna try to squeeze the vampire eye texture to fit in the race eye . i will try to do the some kind of copy in paint and then put in gimp and make it look like a ren texture . then i would exchange the ey vampire for this new texture... the npcs will get messed eyes but i guess theres nothing better i can do...
