I hope they've added a way to disable shadows on grass and it just hasn't been mentioned yet, it seems like a fairly simple thing to add because it's a real performance hog.

well lets see, i played the beta for only 3 minutes before my game got a CTD

glitches that i encountered in the beta

- random activation of TCL command
- enemies dont spot me or spot me from way to far
- if i prest my mouse button during one or 2 handed attacks i can hit a enemy with 1 hit per second even if the hit animation is not finished yet, so i can make my character do a 3 second animation and in that time hit my oponent 3 times with a invisible hit

- random enemy teleportations
- all enemies do the moon walk instead of dying

thats all i was able to test before i got a ctd
the ctd happened while i was in Pothema's last dungeon in her crypte when i followed the big soul light and tried to enter the room where her remains should normally attack me i just got a CTD on entering that area

i think Bethesda you should not release Beta patches, its useless, a game company always has people who test beta's of the game and beta updates, why make us test it?

It sounds to me like you're misunderstanding something here. Bethesda aren't "making" us test anything, rather they give us the opportunity to test it if we want to. My guess is that this is to provide the best possible service with the feedback they get from the volunteers, because you can only nail so many issues with a few hired testers. The world of Skyrim is huge, but so is the gaming community - I think it makes perfect sense to allow the players to test beta patches, thereby covering as many blind spots as possible.

That said, I have never tried any beta patches so this may sound hypocritical, but if you're going to test it you'll have to expect that it might mess with your game. It's a beta because it's not ready for public release, so there's bound to be some issues.

Hi guys!

When I saw this announcement, I was hyped to download the 1.6 beta and wanted to try it out.

When I mounted a horse then drew my weapon, it wasn't the results that I expected...

My character is just standing on top of the horse, with my sword drawn, no animations whatsoever. He's just standing on the horse.

That happens to almost everyone who has it. It IS a beta, so there are bound to be glitches like that. Look up 3 or four posts. The guy was talking about random TCL occurrences, CTD's, and a few other glitches.

The problem is not the beta patch 1.6. You can beleive, first I had the same issue standing on the horse in mounted combat. It´s a incompatibility between 1.6 who brings new animations and animation mods like FNIS which alters files like 0_master.hkx, defaultfemale.hkx and defaultmale.hkx. The modder of FNIS brought an update to fix that issue.

I had all my animation mods uninstalled and all hkx files deleted before I reinstalled one by one to detect what animation mod is the causer, which was FNIS. With the update of FNIS it works again. Char no longer stands on the horse in mounted combat.

That is the only problem I had with the 1.6. No ctd´s or other problems. Only the animations were or are affected.
But it´s not the job of bethesda to test her update with every mod who exists to work proper.
And bethesda will not change that until the release day of 1.6.

My meaning:
Skyrim runs smoother and more stable since I had installed the beta patch after release.

well since this update skyrim doesnt work with script dragon. now i cant play with more hotkeys. considering that my gameplay experience is heavily dependent upon having 30+ hotkeys im effectively shutout. is there any way to roll back skyrim to pre-update until script dragon and more hotkeys mod are updated?

I just want them to fix the horrible shadows in this game (been waiting for this since the day the game came out) and fix the sound issues like spoken dialog suddenly cutting off when turning away from a character that's speaking to you. These issues are MUCH more important to most player's than any new content like mounted horse combat. The bugs and graphical issues need to have priority over any new content. That's what mods are for! It seems like Beth has it backwards this time. Modders create mods. Beth needs to focus on bugs. Not the other way around. Without the bugs and graphic issues being taken care of, I don't care what mods or new content are added. It's still going to be an ugly buggy mess until the bugs and graphical issues are addressed.
