"nginx" is just the name of the service. Coming from the server application scene I know there's likely two major services for websites that can be running on webservers, Apache (who doesn't know that?) and nginx. They're working differently in many regards, but mainly they still do the same.

You're seeing this logo on the error page, only because the Nexus devs didn't create a special 502 error page of their own design, yet, and the default nginx error page is showing. And they actually don't need to, unless you want to see something more graphical or theme-fitting like an Imperial Guard staring at you and a line of text saying: "Stop! You violated the law! That gateway you chose is off limits to you!" (Better alternative to a blank "502 bad gateway" page?). But they very well could, and then the logo would be gone.

Cheers dude, it was a genuine question as much as a joke, that's my new thing learned for the day...

I prefer my explanation to the truth though :)

I simply can't hold back with it when I know the answer... It's a curse sometimes, I swear!

Your's is definitely the more colorful one and a lot more enjoyable than mine. Though I tried pretty hard already with the Imperial Guard quote there.

Same here, it really becomes a curse when you find yourself doing it when you just think you know or half know the answer... Oh the times I've made a complete ass-hat of myself doing that...

^^ This is just... o_O ... ... :wallbash:

I so need to make this the error page for 502s on one of our servers! Just for the nerdy fun of it!
Uhm, but I guess the server admins will kill me... no, wait, for most of the machines "I" am a server admin... uh, well, then our business customer will kill me!
...but it's sooo tempting...

No, you can justify it:

When people make error reports they always forget or get the wrong error number, but with this they will say "the error with the dog" and you'll know exactly which error they mean.

It's about making the error reporting process more user friendly to non-tech savvy people
