I think Retro's on to something. Changing Bride of Migal may require her to do MORE voice acting, and depending on a lot, that may be a heck of a favor. I like OMB showing up, that sounds better than Farquar.
I just want you all to remember, there is a difference between what we dream up, and what is 'feasible' or 'practical'. This could get really complicated really fast if we try to do too much. Considering OMB is already a character, I think he's a great player to use! And OMB may be able to voice him himself, if he likes.
Combining Retro and OMB's last posts sound fun and practical, just try not to mod the conversation with BoM, I think it may not need it. Making a challenge out of defeating Farquar is also not necessarily a good idea. It could be, but, as a programmer, let me assure you we really want to keep our hands off as much of the existing system as we can.
Assuming OMB only enters the suite when the customers are allowed (like Gwen only has a thing with Farquar when customers are allowed), then when the player is new and the customers are disabled, OMB will just be disabled somewhere, not doing anything. He'd be great to use. Plus the REAL OMB could voice some custom lines, if he likes, or we can see what Skyrim can make him say by default. And he gives a one-shot scroll to visit BoM, plus I think we should lock the doors so the player must make the bargain. IF he declines, teleport him outside the suite (I'm picturing the back porch for some reason) and maybe give him another scroll, which he can use again, or sell. (Maybe OMB is waiting outside and gives another scroll "if you change your mind") Basically, whether players actually use BoM or not, she is now part of the suite's lore, and its rather fitting to make sure she gets her show.
Plus, I think we should hide the suite's map marker, and send the courier to find the player after he has completed either Dragon Rising or High Hrothgar (either as in, we need to decide), IF of course, the player has not yet made the bargain
If he has, then, oh well

This sounds good. If we use the OMB character and I do the voices, we get round a big problem. Plus, if I over-voiced the existing dialogue that Migal has already incorporated for OMB, we would have the same voice all through. Okay by me. I would use speech-changers to disguise my real voice but that's no problem - it would all be consistent.
In case you haven't found it yet, there's a cell where the new V4 guests (including OMB, the Heiress and so on) are held when they are not visiting the Suite. They don't interact with the rest of the game, so we can use them how we like if the Suite is not running.
So, yes, we can use the OMB character as the quest-giver and he can have as much dialogue as we like.
I'd still vote for the tome rather than scrolls, though, because it already exists and does what we need.
I think I'll review the BoM dialogue to see how much we could do without asking for more lines of voiceovers.

Just my two cents ...
Maybe once you get the suite, there is just the barkeeper and the bard there, and OMB. when you talk to OMB he tells you that a certain girl (guy) is in a spot of trouble somewhere (maybe an out of control bar tab (or prison)). Then you can get a quest to go take care of it or pay OMB to spring them. Then once they are all there, once a game month one of the girls will go missing, and OMB will be there to tell you who and where ... seems a pity to use the mod just once ...

Game within a game, sort of thing? Could work.
I've looked in the CK and the OMB character seems to have the ordinary Nord voice but there's no reason we can't create a whole custom voice set for him.

Maybe it's too obvious or I'm mistaken and don't know something, but characters can be duplicated (with another BaseID) and edited as any other item. We can use those duplicates in quest don't touching originals and after quest just disabling them somehow, so this will prevent any mess.
About spell tome - If OMB give book to player, what player will do with another one from BoM? In that case script in BoM dialogue must be changed... and this is complicated part as I see.
Also OMB on randevu can say to player something like "Beware, it shall be used only when you are prepared, youngster dovahkin" so we can give <scroll with magic effect LSTPdownstairs> just once per game. If player lose or sell it - his problems (or maybe he can find OMB somewhere and pickpocket it, there are many variants).

Yes, I know you can create duplicate instances of NPCs but they will have the same dialogues and scripts so there's no advantage and there's always the risk of getting them both in the game at the same time.
No problem with getting duplicate books. After all, if you get a duplicate Spell Tome: Fireball in loot somewhere, do you throw it away ? No, you sell it or put it in your shelves.

But you also can manually delete any scripts, factions, items and IDs from duplicates (leaving only "shell" for your purpose) what will protect them from using by any other free running scripts, I think.
And I always throw away spell books because most of them are so cheap. But this one is unique (has 3 types of TP, actually, and it's hard to play with), can be given only to LS owner and only from her... that's why I prefer scroll.

I believe OMB, he means duplicating the Base character, making another version of OMB, with our tweaks to it, NOT just pulling out another instance of OMB, making a new KIND of OMB actor. THAT we can tweak to high heaven, without risking screwing up the existing character.
Also, changing original OMB's voice type may break the quests he's already in. I'm pretty sure only people with the right voice can participate in Rayna's little game, etc. Even if we give compatible dialog, the quests may not trigger. More reason to make our own
And I kinda do like the scroll idea. We can just make a way for the player to get another scroll if he really wants to. Like I said, maybe on being TP'ed out, alt-OMB is waiting, giving a new scroll, incase the player changes his mind.

Okay, I guess I'm out-voted 2:1 on all points
How about you two write the mod and I do the OMB voiceovers for you ? Is that a fair division of labour ?

Oh no, who we are to do prequel for LS?
You're the man, OMB!
To be honest, I lack experience in it, so if I screw up something this will be unforgivable mistake and kill the whole game and user's harddrives (or even their sanity)
And okay, I'll disappear from here
