I'm completely new to this whole modding thing. I thought getting mod manager would make the whole process a lot easier, but I'm having some difficulty. Mods that don't have ESMs or ESPs work just fine. But mods that do have them don't work at all. Step by step, this is what I do: I first download the mod through the manager. Once it appears under the mod tab, I activate it. Then it's esm or esp appears under the plugins tab. I activate it there and launch skyrim after opting to close the MM. In game, the mod does not appear. What am I doing wrong?

What is your Skyrim directory? That could cause problems.

Well it seemed to be a bug with my data files being inaccessible when I got to the screen with the Skyrim Launcher. Once I fixed that, the mods started working. Thanks for the help, though.
