My newish character (level 12) helped a guard outside Whiterun to kill a spider. When she walked up to him , he mentioned Dawnguard and there was a journal update. Then when she entered the city, she was approached by the Orc and got the quest.

The update that preceded the release of the DLC likely is the cause of most incompatibilities.

The only other mods which might be incompatible would be those that occupy the same areas touched by the DLC or those which are overhaul mods that did not factor in mechanics or components present in the DLC. In most of these cases though, loading the DLC before that mod should probably resolve it.

I'm using quite a few mods. None have given me any issues so far EXCEPT ones that alter Vampire mechanics quite a bit. I had some lock-ups and a few CTD issues, but they were minor and easily fixed by disabling the mods in question. Now, I'm not going to name names of the mods because as I'm not a mod author, I can only surmise that that's the cause, and I refuse to give any mods on this site bad press when the fault might very well be mine and not the mods at all. So far, this is my total list and as of now, after over 11 hours, there have been NO CTD's playing Dawnguard:

What a surprise, I was confused when I saw that there are 60 achievement on my skyrim. The additional 10 achievement must be from dawnguard then.

Anyone purchased it yet? I wonder how big the file size of the dlc is.

I set my download location to an area of the U.S. that would have been at work so to speak at the time of day I bought the game. The whole download took me approx. 35-40 minutes, and that was during peak usage hours. There are some mods here on Nexus that are, I believe, a bit bigger than Dawnguard is. Didn't take that long at all.

THe first release annnouncement I saw was on Steam in a buy it now ad, within an half hour of its release, oddly enough.
I then broacsted it to a room full of gamers on IRC.
