Hi

In last couple of months i've seen a big number of mods that uses lineage 2 assets (some times only textures and some are whole model ports), i reported one a month ago

So my question, it is legal here or what?

Im a ripper to, but when somones ripp other games and upload them as own work just pisses me off...

The fact is that the files aren't full rips, the meshes and textures+the rigging has been done by hand and nothing has been directly converted, thus not making it a rip, but more of a replica, even if some of these replicas are extremely high quality. There are similar things from several other games including Final Fantasy and Warcraft series, some things from Zelda etc.

To put it bluntly, it is not a rip if it has NOT been directly converted, it's a replica. As long as no objects have been converted or 100% identically been replicated, it doesn't not break copyright laws to my knowledge. If you or someone else can prove it has been converted, then it can and will be removed for legal reasons, otherwise the work will stay. If I'm wrong, someone who has higher knowledge should feel free to correct me.

Sure i got solid proof (i checked the geometry, its the same, the textures are 100% correct)
Damn to bad i DLeted those pic i includet in the report, but i will make it again

Ripping from L2 is extremly easy, textures are easy accesible only models need bit more of the work

EDIT2: Here's the geometry (the original model have messed texture because it uses 2 textures and i didnt have time to chop the model to fit the textures)


I can give prof for other ripps aswell (eg: draconic armor uses original textures, heck even part of dark elf female are visible there, or some swords)

Provide the proof please. I do not have that other game nor have I ever played it so it is impossible for me to verify if this is a rip or a model made to look like something from that game.

EDIT: I see the proof that you attached. I have attached these images to the mod page and I have placed the file as Hidden until I hear back from the author. If I do not hear anything from the author in a certain amount of time, the file will be deleted.

Ok i found some new armor (imperial crusader armor) has ripped stuff, i can even tell that 3D Ripper DXwas used (somone was even that lazy to rename te textures)
Give me some time and ill get prof for that aswell

EDIT: The author is chinese i think (kylin) so problably he wont reply

Only texture of lower part (see the skin on the armor? its the version of l2 Female Mystic (ivory-tower.de has an nice armor viewer)
And the model is edited (but sword and shield are full rips)
If you need more proof just ask
(Posted only one, because extracting/shoting it/uploading is time consuming)

Looks pretty solid, can't really defend against that. Sad to see that it was a rip, but some people just are like that.

So here it is note that picture of pine is a ripp too but with better quality (the guy form that mod just failed to rip it good, 3dx ripper sometimes screws the angle of the model and makes it look wacky sometimes)

This one is mine, a model in one piece (made it for morrowind long ago when dmc4 on pc was only a demo)


And the other one,
This is sliced into pieces but blade geometry and the texture fits, overall the riping job was done poorly on it


Both swords where ripped with the same tool, because there is no other way than get it with 3dxripper (there is also program called gameassassin but it's much more complicated to use it)
