Good to hear. 8)

@kuronpie
No, AV doesn't affect spawning behaviors at all. It only comes into play AFTER something has already spawned.

@joshezzell. I'm not into one liners so prepare for a long post. This way we can minimize the amount of posts (I hope). I recommend that you at least reread it twice so it all sinks in!!! Yesterday I had Skyrim reinstalled so its completely virgin/vanilla. Using Wrye Bash 300 for a Bashed patch and BOSS to set the correct load order. I also use Boss Userlist Manager (BUM). Today I had problems with getting MO to work (see at the end of post) but have it working again so I know what to look out for. Your problem is that AV starts but that the packages are NOT show. There are two possibilties. 1) MO with AV does not work correctly. 2) MO works correctly but the empty AV packages is caused by AV. The first we are going to check. The second is most commonly caused by Windows permissions problem (UAC) when Skyrim is placed in the Program Files directory. The AV (online) README covers this. One solution is to use SteamMover to move one or more installed Steam games outside the Program Files directory. I've checked your video and all seems fine at frist glance (no data directory inside the data directory) but couldn't see everything. You have quite a lot of mods installed with MO so I assume you are a seasoned MO user. Still I'm gonna explain it a bit (might be usefull for potential new MO users). MO uses a Virtual Filing System (VFS) to perform its miracles. MO like any other install manager has only acces to the Data dir and it sub directories. Mods you install are put into its own directory inside the <MO>/mods directory. Mods which create files (eg AV and ASIS) are placed in the <MO>/overwrite directory. When kickstarting Skyrim or any other program using MO, MO creates a Data directory (contents depend on order defined in MO) and piggybacks this Data directory into the VFS. So the FS a program sees is the VFS of MO. If WB is kickstarted by MO and you create a bashed patch this is ALSO put in the overwrite directory. Skyrim.ini and Skyrimprefs.ini are handled different by MO. A simple way to check what Skyrim sees and to check if everything is working and to check if what is shown in the Data Tab (right window) is also exposed to the outside (VFS) is the following. Kickstart cmd (windows/system32/cmd.exe open a windows where you have a commandline prompt) by MO or kickstart a file manager by MO (you can NOT kickstart the Windows explorer). I have tested it with Free Commander (http://www.freecommander.com/) which is perfect for this purpose. Simply goto 'executables' and add free commander or cmd here. Then start freecommander and goto the <Skyrim>Data directory. When you have AV installed you will now see a 'SkyProc Patchers' directory. If you goto <Skyrim>/Data with the normal windows explorer you will NOT see this directory. I encourage you to install free commander and kickstart it by MO and check out your <Skyrim>/Data directory. Now to AV. If you have installed it by MO it will be put in the <MO>/mods/AV directory ("AV" is the name you used when installing Automati Variants). When you start AV by MO it will write debuglogs and when creating a patch the file Automatic Vatiants.esp (AV.esp) is generating. THESE will be written to the <MO>/overwrite directory. IF they are written to the <MO>/mods/AV directory the VFS does not work!! (see my findings at the end). The file "=--Debug Overview--=.txt" in SkyProc Patchers\Automatic Variants\SkyProcDebug shows an overview. Before repackaging AV in my case it did show that ..\..\Skyrim.esm and update.esm could not be found (caused by the extra Data directory). The moment AV starts it will move all files from an AVP to the <MO>/overwrite/textures directory where they stay until you do a so called Gather&Exit. The file <MO>\overwrite\SkyProc Patchers\Automatic Variants\SkyProcDebug\File Variants\Imported Packages.txt shows which AVP's are used by AV. When you use a kickstarted by MO Free Commander all files mentioned just show up in/under the <Skyrim>/Data directory. Easing checking!!! Enough talk. Lets do some testing. I asumme AV is installed and you have an AVP installed. 1) Where is Skyrim located, in the Program Files directory (default steam) or somewhere outside of it. 2) Use the windows explorer and goto the <MO>/mods/<AV package> directory and check in the AV packages directory if there are still .dds and .json files. If so AV has NOT touched them. And they probably (not sure) will not have shown up in the AV GUI. 3) After creating a patch what is the size of the AV.esp ( <MO>/overwrite/automatic variants.esp). If its about 5 KB AV has effectively found nothing and the AV.esp is 'virgin'/empty. 4) After creating a patch (even if av packages in GUI is empty) what kind of error do you find in the =--Debug Overview--=.txt file. Can you see that AV recognized AV packs in the Imported Packages.txt file. 5) Kickstart Free commander and goto the normal skyrim/data directory. Do you see a skyproc patchers dir and textures/av packages directory? I know its a lot to suck in but play around with it a bit to get a feeling for it. Please report back what you find. This can be a small/concise message !!!! Its entirily possible that MO is working OK but that Windows permissions are creating Havoc here (hence where is Skyrim located). The readme has a solution for this. MY PROBLEM ---------- I had everything working. Did a fresh install of Skyrim and afterward it was BORKED. AV and AVP's installed corectly and where correctly shown in the Data tree (right window MO) but looking at the logs files revealed that skyrim.esm and update.esm could not be found. Also using freecommander the data dir was empty. Uninstalled MO but that gave problems also. Somehow I could not remove the directory as it was locked by Windows. Reboot did not work. Used 'unlocker' to remove it. After that installed MO again, installed AV, installed AV package and everything was OK. No errors in logfiles, NO empty overwrite directory, NO log files written to the <MO/mods/AV directory (not good). It simply worked again.

ok, @wolverine2710, I followed your directions. I do have a lot of mods (mostly STEP and texture mods). This has really given me a feel for using MO. My Skyrim is installed outside of program files and I did this to avoid permissions issues like you are saying. I checked to make sure that the .dds and .json file were still in the AVP, they were. The AV.esp was 5kb so it has nothing in it. The DebugOverview file has these error messages: Message: Skipping a bad mod: Skyrim.esm Message: Skipping a bad mod: Update.esm Message: There was no AV Packages folder. This is what the Imported Packages.txt says: [1][0m:0s][1090] [OPEN DEBUG FILE] Opening Debug File [2][0m:0s][1330] [Package Location] There was no AV Packages folder. Mod Organizer 0.11.7 has been released this morning!!!

@joshezzell. Timezones are not so nice, it seems when I wake up you are at sleep ;- I live in the Netherlands, GMT+1. ( When my MO went bad I (after reinstalling Skyrim I had to install MO again) unfortunately I started with AV and did not install normal mods, so can't say if MO worked for those. You have quite a lot of mods installed and I assume these work for you, otherwise you would have noticed. Hence MO is working for those. Looking at the logs AV definitely can't find files which means MO is not working for it. I'm pretty sure the skyproc debug dir and files are written into your <MO>/AV directory and NOT into the overwrite directory. The same goes for the generated AV.esp. When going with free commander to the <skyrim>/data dir DOES it show dirs/files for the installed normal mods?

At this point its most efficient to contact Leviathan1753 (see reporting bugs section in Readme). Aside from the normal stuff like skyproc debug logs (perhaps best to set logging in AV to include skyproc logging) I think its best to sent him a file containing the VFS as MO sees it (write to file in MO for the Data dir) and what windows sees. This can be done by kickstarting cmd, then navigate to the <skyrim>/data dir and issue the following: dir /b/s > c:\vfs_dirlisting.txt. This way he can compare what MO sees and what windows sees. Also mention your video. Brilliant thing todo btw.

One last thing you could try before sending a bug report to Leviathan1753. Afaik MO does not write settings into the registry, does NOT write to other windows files. For MO its universe is the MO directory. At least as long as you have not for example changed the settings for the 'download directory'. In my case MO is on C: (SSD) and the download dir is on D: (normal HD). The VFS only kicks in when you kickstart a program by MO. If my assumption is correct its totally safe to do the following. REBOOT. Install MO again but now place it in a "Mod Organizer TEST' instead of the 'Mod Organizer' directory. NOW start with AV and see if the VFS now works. Should this work, then you can install a few normal mods for testing.
Did a bit of MO research this morning. Info like MO loadorder, whats enabled can be found inside the following files: archives.txt, loadorder.txt, modlist.txt and plugins.txt for a certain profile. Also saw that when installing mod X in the <MO>/X dir there is a file called meta.ini which contains Nexus info like Nexus id and version number. So it SEEMS (NOT 100% sure) that when MO should work again its a matter of copying your old mods directory and the old profile to the new working MO and it should be fine. Again not 100% sure. Perhaps some MO wizard knows for sure!!!
This is better then what first popped up in my mind.

NOW obsolete suggustion.
Something you won't like but could do is the following. Remove MO all together (BACKUP MO DIR FIRST) and start with AV first. If your problems are the same as mine you probably get problems with deleting the MO folder (see my problem section) and have to delete the remaining empty dirs using a tool like unlocker (http://www.emptyloop.com/unlocker/). Then start with AV and test it. If that works reinstall the other mods. I'm not so into MO but I think when downloading mods it puts a bit a meta data (like where it comes from and the version number) in the downloads dir which makes reinstalling your mods very simple (I HOPE). Not sure where MO puts data like which mods you have installed and what the order is. Could not find it at first glance in the profiles directory.

When you got it working I would like to hear from you what was causing it!!!! If my last suggestion does not work then I'm very sorry that I could not help you further. I can only do so much and now its into the hands of Leviathan1753.

PS. Your repackaged AV looks fine but just in case you want to compare it. My repackaged AV which works for me can be downloaded here

Hey, I'm trying to get this to work. But I keep getting an error when closing the program. Here's the error file:

No esp ever gets created. :(. If I enable the creation of the file on startup, the same error message comes (" java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: -1"), and the program crashes. Had to reinstall it to get it to work again.

Any suggestions? :(

I have a problem with AV in that when I am openning the .jar file, the AV Packages list is empty. I installed the 3 packages provided on the mod page as well as StarX's. I used mod manager to install all of this. They are all in C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Skyrim\Data\SkyProc Patchers\Automatic Variants\AV Packages\. Why won't it list these files for me to be able to use this?
