The Bethblog brings the news that the Steam Workshop for Skyrim has had its 10,000th mod uploaded. Steam Workshop conducted an interview with the modder joedamarsio, for whom the mod was his first mod.

This past week the Skyrim Workshop reached another milestone – it’s 10,000th mod. The mod, Shannara Weapon Set from joedamarsio, with an interview from the Skyrim Creation Kit (Public) Steam Group. Here’s an snippet…

Any advice you would offer to anyone playing Skyrim who maybe thinks about trying to make a mod but is intimidated?

It’s overwhelming when you first look at all the options on the Creation Kit but if you follow the Wiki it will talk you through everything and make modding a pleasurable and fun experience

Read the full interview here, and if you haven’t checked out the Workshop yet, visit mods.elderscrolls.com.

Good for them, though I think the Nexus reached that some where in the '90's.

It might have 10 thousand mods uploaded, but around half of them are either extremely, extremely basic and absolutely pointless or doubles/triples of the same mod, which are frequently the pointless ones.

Skyrim Nexus had 15,000 mods back in June.

Eh. 10,000 is a nice mark to aim for.

But Triaxx2 said it all. Nexus hit that in the 90's.

While I am not a fan of the Workshop myself, I am glad to see it growing. The more people who become aware of modding and what it is capable of, the more people will dig deeper and arrive at Nexus. Also, the more people who will get into modding. So it is all and all a good thing.

Ill never support STEAM my mods are exclusive to the nexus, thats my way to protest against that annoying program.

Hmm, considering that steam is so widespread. It is sort of weird that they still have yet to get the same amount of mods that the nexus has (18009 mods and counting). That said, it is still a milestone to get 10k mods that is so easily available for every PC-gamer. Personally I am far to comfortable with nexus to start using steam workshop, but this is very good news for those that does use it.
