Congratulation to steam for hitting 10000, though I will always use the Nexus sites to manually download mods for my game

I think any milestone in modding is a good one, whether it be here or elsewhere.

Out of all my mods only 2-3 are workshop mods. NMM just works better. Workshop is more for people starting on mods. When you use 100+ mods mod conflict always be an issue no matter with nmm or workshop. Also workshop will only auto update while the Skyrim launcher is open so if you use skse you never see the launcher anyways. I just think it kinda dumb for people to dismiss workshop and their mods just because of nexus fanboyism. Theres good mods there

Good for them. Still prefer Nexus for everything (forum, sites, manager, mods....).

I agree Nexus sites are fantastic, but like a previous poster I find all this Hate for the workshop rather baffling.
Valve produce fantastic games that push a lot of boundaries and don't compromise on vision or user experience. The portal games are IMO some of the best games ever made.
Steam provides a great utility for keeping in touch with friends in the context of gaming, even whilst playing a single player game. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to use the browser overlay to lookup a wiki page, or the chat to speak a mate who's doing the same. It also sells games at great prices and is great for the indie game industry because it lowers barriers to entry into the market.
The Workshop may not provide the expertise, functionality or range of the Nexus, however it does provide a much more visible recourse for modifying your game and will doubtless promote the modding culture in general, which is good for everyone here. I suspect the amount of referral traffic to this site from the workshop is not inconsiderable for example....
In what way therefore is their milestone not good for a cause we support and enjoy ? Well done Valve ...

Not everyone hates them because of nexus fanboyism. Steam lets people steal mods and put them on workshop and do absolutely nothing about it. They don't care about the modding community at all if it doesn't make them money. They are a company that exists to make money, you should remember that. It having good mods on there doesn't mean we should automatically like them despite the s*** they pull... But I guess some people will always ignorantly shout out "fanboy" when someone has a difference in opinion to them.I think any milestone in modding is a good one, whether it be here or elsewhere.
I don't see how the poster before me sees the hate as baffling... Just think about it... They let people steal mods and do nothing about it and they don't care about you or the modders they only care that it gets them more sales. There is nothing baffling about it.
It is good that it reached 10k because it has introduced more people to modding I just wish it was someone else other than Valve running the workshop... Not sure what Beth was thinking.

Congrats to Skyrim's Steam Workshop on their 10,000th (although i never used it, I prefer Nexus, no hating).
Now, how many time do you expect will take Nexus to reach it's 20,000th?

Please direct your attention here.
Bethesda was probably thinking they wanted to give their User's a consistent and well supported experience with which they were familiar.
Mod theft may be a serious issue - but it doesn't undo the overall positive effect Valve have on the gaming community.
They are a company that exists to make money - as are all companies - otherwise they would be charitable foundations. Companies have a responsibility by law to prioritise Shareholders. User benefit and Shareholder benefit are not mutually exclusive concepts however. In general Valve is very supportive of the modding community. Rather a few notable games of theirs started out as mods ....
People hating on the workshop will lead members here to not repost their mods there (assuming they are .esp). Not only will this reduce the exposure to a potentially great mod but it will decrease exposure to this great community. It just seems like an unconstructive attitude is all.
I do apologise for coming across strong. I don't mean to put anyones noses out in the process.

I hate the steam workshop...I update my mods when I want to with NMM, they shouldn't be forcibly updated by some cloud service.
