Skyrim Freezes after 2gb mark.

Hey guys, thanks for taking a look.

 

I have a pretty heavily modded Skyrim game going on. Last time I really played was in the spring. And I had a ton of mods then, I would get the occasional CTD but nothing major. This time around after a fresh install, fresh everything I'm getting a freezing issue. I started my modding using STEP and then I added some mods here and there to it. I had tweaked ini files, but after maybe suspecting that was the culprit i set them back to Ultra Defaults. I was also using Texture Combiner as well but again I thought that might be causing freezing so I axed that as well.

 

After troubleshooting 2 days I am at a stand still maybe I'm overlooking something simple or I got a know mod that causes memory leaks I'm not sure. But I have figured out that the game freezes (the music keeps playing but I have to task manager shut it down) when I hit right around 2GB in Skyrim memory usage. It won't freeze until right around that time. I got some heavy duty mods for sure but I got s pretty heavy duty pc as well. I was able to run most of these mods, if not more mods back in april. Any help or troubleshooting will be appreciated.

 

I have a papyrus log file, I took a look but its gibberish to me, maybe it will help someone else though.

It appears for the moment that Warzones was taxing the engine too much with everything else loaded. Don't quote me on that yet, but after leaving everything else on and turning off Warzones I hadn't crashed or froze yet. If Warzone's is the cause, what a shame, watching those epic battles was awesome.

Even with a good rig you have to make choices and decisions about what to run with and what not too

 

In short trim back your list

-Its important to figure out what you like best eyecandy or gameplay then make your trimming from there

Thanks, it wasn't Warzones fault, but Warzone was the straw that broke Gamebryos back. I tried disabling mods and keeping Warzones, but once my mod list was half full and I was STILL crashing I did the opposite. I disabled Warzones and kept everything else. I never used to have this problem with Warzones, but apparently its 100% more beefy.

 

Like you suggested though I'd still like to try and cut down on what I got and trim the fat.

It's just funny how Warzones will freeze a persons system, and people will tell you it is your systems fault. They have no idea what they are talking about. I've pushed my system to it's limits many times testing mods such as high enb's, open cities, and trying to use 7 ugrids, and none of them cause the consistant freezing that Warzones caused. In fact, all any of them did was cause CTD's, but Warzones consistantly froze my system every 5 to 10 minutes. I eventually got sick of it and removed it, and I have only froze about 4 times in the last 2 months since removing it. It's just amazing that people place the blame on you when it's actually the buggy scripts that Warzones uses. Sure, you could remove all your mods and play on low resolution just so you could watch some massive battles... Or maybe someone can make a version of Warzones that actually works, because no one wants to admit that the current version has a problem. Anyways, I forgot about that mod, but I had to respond to the typical "It's your fault" response. It's not your fault, it's Warzones.

Does anyone else spot any fat to be trimmed? It was painful getting this low. I don't freeze anymore but I still get the occasional maybe every 30 minutes ot an hour or so.

i've been having this freezing problem lately and after much browsing and trying to figure this out it seems a 12 pack of budweiser has solved the issue.. i know this sounds stupid.. but i read on some other forums that your power supply will put out 20% more or whatnot if plugged directly into a wall socket instead of a power strip.. well i just went ahead and did that i gained fps.. like 5-10. i know sounds crazy.. and the freezing stopped everything runs much smoother now.. sounds nuts i know try it..............

I get CTDs from Warzones and I have 3GB of VRAM on my 7970 so I uninstalled it. I don't blame Warzones though I put this square on Bethesda for their poor console port. You can always try Occupy Skyrim
