That's a legitimate point. You're right, you couldn't really hide if they had heat vision, unless you were directly behind something. Then again, I've had Draugr stare right at me and not see me, but I guess their optic nerves are rotted out. The steam might confuse them at first, but they could probably tell the difference between the shape of a steam cloud and the shape of a person.

Maybe we should just go with the f*ck-you-it's-magic theory?
