Banning a mod because a bunch of freelancers did your job for you? So weak, dude. In their place, I would have just bought rights to the mod and made a free game graphics update/overhaul available for download. Hell, even if you charged for it, Frylock be all like, "Shut up and take my money!" And while we're on the subject, I don't know why I'm not required to pay money to be a member of this website. I would have offered the freelancers jobs, with or without a degree.
There's no good reason for banning something like this. I can't even describe and compare it to a similar situation. Supporting it gains brownie points at no expense. It's a WTF moment. Bethesda, you make awesome games. I still like you, but what the f***??

pedro124@ they didn't take out morroblivion, it's ready to download in the morroblivion site if you have oblivion/ morrowind GOTY edition to install the mod, Bethesda just banned it from the nexus/ the official forums because they can't support it legally or they will have trouble with the third party program owners that they used to make the TES games, and that's the way Beth is supporting this mod, not allowing it to spread in the official forums but not banning it legally with a C&D letter
(unlike Warner brothers that have sent a C&D letter to the MERP team that is recreating Middle earth in Skyrim's engine WITH their OWN assets and all)

The Morroblivion mod was banned from TesNexus because it uses copyrighted materials from Morrowind. Even though the resources are from Bethesda's own game, it is still a violation of the EULA (That End User License Agreement that everybody skips through when installing a game) to use those resources in other video games. From a purely business/legal standpoint, that cannot be allowed. At least, not officially.
If Morroblivion and Skywind used all 100 percent modder-created resources, instead of meshes and textures converted from Morrowind, I'm sure Bethesda could officially support it. The problem is, the amount of work it would take to completely rebuild everything from the ground up is astronomical. In addition to recreating every single mesh & texture for every item, structure, and creature in the game, there's also placement to consider. Each room, city, house and cave would have to be painstakingly rebuilt by hand and it would take an army of modders to do it. That is just too much work.
Now, if Bethesda were to do it themselves and release a brand new version of Morrowind, complete with the same original storyline, quests, and characters but with the new graphics engine and new combat system, I would gladly pay them 60 bucks for it. And I'm sure many others would as well. Morrowind still has the best story out of the Elder Scrolls series, and I'd love to see it re-imagined in this beautiful, new game engine. Either Bethesda does it and makes money, or the guys who made Morroblivion do it for free. It's Bethesda's choice.

If BS were to update and re-release Morrowind, that would be great as long as it's just the Graphics and Animations, and added voice acting. Leave my combat and magic systems alone for once.

This mod can`t die, even if it got banned, because someone has to have all of the content of the mod on thier system [the master merger],so he/she can just continue working.
The final mod when released could be put anywhere on the globe,so it can`t die.

You can already download the current version of Skywind, and Oblivirim in their forums. So far just the worldspace is completely implemented.

I nearly crapped myself when I read this, I'm gonna try my best to wait until it's finished before I download though.

The problem wasn't just meshes/textures, it's the transferring of any kind of game assets. If the mod still requires Morrowind to be installed there is still some kind of asset transferring going on, so I don't think Bethesda is going to approve of Skywind.
3.Morroblivion was banned but quote: These legal issues have now been circumvented with mesh and texture replacers, and community development of the project is still going on here at (link removed).
Aha so im not allowed anymore to copy files to another destination other then where Bethesdas Installer copies it to on my own computer very interesting if that is the case i would leave the country this law applies to immediately if i where you
