Thanks, just have to not let steam connect to the internet, (Work Offline) all of the new defaultgamecore.mod stuff works now not just some of it

Just wondering. I can't run any mods anymore. Is anyone having issues with the modpatcher? The changes are applied, I can see them in the .exe, but when starting the game it's just a vanilla game.

Wondering if we can also fix this by editing the hosts file. But I guess for now, for the regular user, it's just easier to start Steam in offline mode.

So I guess when Firaxis said they're not focused on it but will see what happens in the future, what they really meant was "we're going to go out of our way to make modding even harder than it already is, because everybody knows an involved and creative user base is a terrible thing".

I know, right? WTF.

Well, this is how you block that nasty call home IP Address:

1) open file: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
2) add the line: 127.0.0.1 65.118.245.165

save and reboot

I tried to fool it using the hosts file. I also blocked it in the Windows firewall, but for me it only works if I start Steam in offline mode. I'm guessing there might be another thing causing this issue.

I'll look into it. I'm curious now. :D

UPDATE: Online mode seems to work fine for me with the change to my hosts file + reboot. I had no problems changing my soldiers starting hitpoints and seeing it take effect for a new game.

Try modifying the weapon stats instead.
I had some parts of a mod working whilst others didnt. Weapons were the thing that stood out most... so try that

hey, i've been following the xcom mods for a bit now (also new here. hi everyone) and i noticed when i started up the game today that my small armor slots that i added stayed unless i equipped new armor. but my satellite build time was still 10 days and the costs of certain items were still lowered. BUT! the moment i switched armors, it went back to the original small items slot in game with only 1 slot. any ideas anyone?
