Try to install the mod only onto a clean .exe file (the original .exe). You run the patcher, wait a few seconds, and at the end you'll see that a new .exe file has been created, it's a backup of the original. At that point, the mod is installed. If you still experience difficulties with the enemy, then maybe the AI is too hard? You are the first one to report about the tactical AI since the latest patch, so I don't know. Also, keep in mind that the game is pretty random sometimes. A 20% chance to hit means the enemy can still hit you every now and then. If you are unlucky, it's theoretically possible that they can hit your guys multiple times in a row, even with a very low chance to hit. About Admin mode. After you've installed the mod, simply start the game through Steam or whatever download service you use. I guess I should put this in the ReadMe next time because quite a few people seem to go wrong there.

I cannot get this mod to install. When I activate the patch it just sits there and does nothing. A message telling me that an exception has occurred comes up and asks if I want to continue. I click yes and a window call Form 1 appear and nothing happens at all.

Yes I have admin privileges turned on.

I'm guessing your anti virus program is blocking the patcher.

Restore the original .exe file. Turn off your anti virus program temporarily. Run the patcher. After a few seconds you'll see a new, backup .exe file. At that point the mod is installed.

The shotgun has a big accuracy penalty over range that the rifles don't have.

it's SUPPOSED to have a big accuracy penalty over range! have you ever actually fired a real shotgun?

even fully choked, they have only a few dozen yards of effective range. after that, the spread becomes wide, and the pellets lose velocity rapidly. You can still hit things with a shotty at a hundred yards, but it doesn't have a tenth of the impact that it does at 20 yards.

whereas an assault rifle will have an effective range 10 times that of a shotty. sorry, still disagree with your thinking here, but hey, like I said, it's your mod and it was easy enough for me to change for my own tastes :)

I don't see your point. The maximum range at which these guys fire is something like 20 meters. Plus, look at the size of that shotgun! It's gigantic! lol

As someone who has fired shotguns quite a bit when younger, i would like to say that on most of the ranges that are in the game (squad view snipers not withstanding) a shotgun would do just fine if loaded with 00 or 000 military buckshot. But the game currently handles it as if it was a sawn off doublebarreled shotgun with birdshot.
You more or less have to stand right next to something to hit.
The laser scattergun is better tho, and more like what a shotgun should be.... havent tried the alloy gun tho so i cant speak for that.

Dont fall for the hollywood myth that shotguns are only good within a few feet... you can do substantial damage with the right ammo at a pretty decent range.

Are you also speaking about this mod? I tried to address the issue you mention. Do you feel this mod doesn't do shotguns justice?

I agree with Oddball, furthermore it is a fact that this is a sci-fi variant, which could have any propelling system and any munitions type except from the one used in shotguns today, as I highly doubt that buckshot and gunpowder would do the trick against any of the aliens alloys. ;D If we apply real-world "physics" on a fictional world like the X-Com universe, we also need to implement the utter possibility of an ongoing, exaggerated development in ballistics and munition types. I mean, of course they start the XCom project because of the aliens appearing, but still you could argue that until today, and of course in the future, R&D has emphasized the enhancing of impact velocity, force, ballistics, etc. Or in other words: SCI-FI! xD This is about balancing, not about my real-world-physics-TOZ-like rifle failing the task to even tickle a Muton...

It serves as a balancing tool. You get shot, you pay the consequences. It makes you use rookies temporarily if you play badly. It's a means to punish while having some fun playing with rookies. But it's not as harsh as getting killed because after a while you get your wounded guys back, so it's quite forgiving actually. Some people stated it's a good idea and personally I think it's quite fun.

Oh i understand your reasoning. I also know that some have stated that it is a good idea.

Im just saying that a lot of comments here are about that one thing. So maby make a version of your mod for the ones that dont like super long hospital trips?

Ps. Dont make it on my account tho, ive already modded your mod to lower the time you are hospitalized from injuries to 8/16 instead of 7/40.
