The mod does not seem to be working for me at all. I followed the installation instructions but nothing in the game changed as far as I could tell. Did I miss sth?

"Update 1" refers to the pirated copy. Pirated copies cannot run mods. That's why your game is crashing.

Hmmm, I seem to be unable to research any beam weapons, or carapace armor. Since other people aren't complaining about this, has anyone encountered it and found how to fix?
I researched:
Xeno-Biology
Arc Thrower
Weapon Fragments
Alien Materials
Experimental Warfare
Sectoid, Floater, and Thin Man autopsies.
Classic-Ironman difficulty, no tutorial, no second wave options.
Steam is in offline mode.

for people who want to use black alpha's Warpsace extension or similar mods with the military retexture pack, start a game with the mod e.g. warspace extension activated and save the game. then follow the steps for the retexture pack and start texmod in offline mode (steam) and load your save. this can be done as the game reads the data off each save rather than dirrectly off game data unless its a new game.

You should get carapace armor research after first UFO mission, and you should get beam weapon research after researching Weapon Fragments, so basically those should be available quite soon.

Hmm, I think iddqdvie may be on to something here. The laser sniper rifle kills most enemies in one shot and a few in two, while the plasma sniper rifle kills most enemies in one shot and a few in two. There are some cases where the plasma has an advantage but I'm not sure there are enough. Maybe if you buffed the hp of certain enemies so the improved damage became more pronounced, and/or reduced the damage and further increased the accuracy of laser weaponry so it retains an advantage over ballistics but Plasma's extra damage was more significant.

Hmm I am really not sure about adding any more hitpoints, since the game becomes insane at higher difficulties when you get swarmed by 12+ cryssalids and zombies alltogether
