It has been exactly one year since Skyrim was released, and we have seen some amazing mods popping up since then, and 8 game updates have been released by Bethesda, which is quite a lot compared to their previous games - whether it is because they want us to have the best game possible or just because the game had so many problems to start with doesn't really matter, we got the updates. Two DLCs; Dawnguard and Hearthfire, and another DLC on the horizon; Dragonborn. We have gotten quite a lot already, and it doesn't look like Bethesda is stopping there either.

So, what are your thoughts on the game now, compared to back then? Has it been improved? Do you still find it entertaining to play? Are you satisfied with the DLCs they give us?

- Personally, I still find it entertaining, but I can't seem to play it in great lengths like I could and still can with Morrowind, which might be because Skyrim is a bit too realistic... But add a few mods, and the great experience is back again! So, what mods do you find to be essential to your game, and if you had to choose one mod, which mod is the best in your opinion?

The DLC and updates are really great, but it is the mods that are the greatest, by far, imho.

UFO adds a hell of allot to the followers making them usable. So that's probably my mod of choice :D

Another year gone by ..SO SO....but this game has been the longest investment of my time/life , around 1600 hrs playtime and 50% more on tweaking/juggling mods and reloading, restarting, different flavor every time, pretty good value for thirty bucks (it was just over twenty quid at the time, exchange rate then.)..and More to come.....long may it continue, and may I die with my weapon in both hands....

Its been a very up and down year (quality wise) for this great game. On the plus side its one of the best open world RPG games ever made. However the deveolpers where so console orientated that the PC version they released was a mess. It took the brilliant work of the many the modders on the nexus to turn the PC version into the game it should have been from the start. Despite what bethseda may say to the contrary PC gamers are the poor relation of the gaming world, and will always take second place now to the console owners, even though PC owners are the biggest and most passionate devotees to gaming in general and RPGs in particular. The DLC has been OK so far but nothing special. Dragonborn looks a lot more promising, with a bit of the old Morrowind feel to it which is never a bad thing. A year on I still play it a lot (heavily modded of course) and still enjoy it. Few games match its scale and ambition and for that I can forgive its console prejudices. Roll on Elder Scrolls 6!

Personally, the reason why I can still play it for so long is because it is so realistic. :P I think the DLC has been excellent so far, and the mods have improved my game experience ten-fold. If there was one mod I couldn't live without though... it's gotta be between Imp's More Complex Needs, iHud, SMIM and the Realistic Lighting with Customization mod. Dragonborn looks so awesome :D

Invested quite a vast amount of time in it myself. Around 900+ hours, Had a few reformats along the way but it usually capped around 300 each time, So I'm rounding it off to around 900 hours and still counting.

I can't quite sit and play as if I'm trying to replace every single thought process and memory with the game like I could when I first started, about a month after the initial release, But I still play it, Mods continue to add layers of realism and or just all around fun in general and they are the life-blood of the game for me.

Personally for me, the mods most important to me are Weapons of the third era, Fang92's retexture of that mod, UFO, Project reality's realistic sky addon, and the list goes on, I suppose over time I've become a tad spoiled, Without the bulk of the mods in my present load order the game would simply feel lacking.

Far as the DLC's go, Hearthfire was pretty nice, being what it was, a house mod. Never had any trouble out of it. Until dawnguard got its respective patches, were it not for the console it would've been impossible to even try to progress for me, So all in all I just wish bethesda would quit with the rush jobs and make us wait a bit longer for something that isn't infested with bugs. This is based on my experience and others may not have had these issues and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Overall I was satisfied with the DLC's in their finished product form, I wait with great anticipation for the next dlc and I offer my sincere thanks to the modding community that continues to keep this game alive through their great effort and sometimes even personal sacrifice.

Clocking in around 600hrs, my first TES game! I change my mod list when starting a new character but it seems that SkyUI, CoT, immersive armors, jaysus, and UNP stay with me. Its such an amazing game but the completely random outside CTDs i get once every second or third play session do take the shine off sometimes.

Steam tells me I've clocked 898 hours in Skyrim. I could think about what that says about my life, but I choose not to.

Happy birthday Skyrim, you're still fun, I may take breaks occasionally but I can still find joy in playing new characters, trying new builds, roleplaying and of course the many wonderfull mods available.

I've even managed to stick to a single character for 32 whole levels now, maybe I'll finally finish Dawnguard and make the Dragonborniest Dragonborn in time for Dragonborn.
