I totally agree about the laser weapons being stronger than conventional weapons part...I just came from playing warspace and the laser weapons turned out godawful with their worse damage overall (why would you even consider laser weapons then?)

liekmudkips: Laser weapons could be more accurate and don't need to reload. That's plenty of reason to use them. Conventional weapons could still have a better critical chance so they'd have a niche role at least until you get plasmas. That simply gives you more choice rather than just presenting you with a one-for-one replacement without any tactical considerations.
Think about the armors, for instance. They don't progress linearly either. One armor is lighter but has a grappling hook and more mobility, making it a sometimes useful alternative to the latest heavy armor. It's just more diversity and tactical choice if the balance is done right.

I dont agree that you have to nerf a whole section of weapons just so you can make conventional weapons more viable...Being more accurate and never needing to reload sure helps, but I would rather kill things faster than either of those (which is what plasma weapons do).

Hi there!
When I go to build the Hyperwave Relay, it says that I need 2 beacons. I have confirmed that the DefaultGameCore.mod file has SW_MARATHON=1.99f and yet I still seem to be encountering this Marathon mode bug. Is there an ini file somewhere else that I can check/alter to fix this?
YAXO is the first and only mod that I have applied to my game and all of the other features have been working.
Edit: I also note that I can't equip the Arc Thrower into the pistol slot. I have been playing while Steam is online as whenever I try to play in offline mode it says it needs to complete the installation (which requires me to go online and verify the game cache).

Try to execute the files in the VCRedist folder (located in xcom dir) and disable auto-update. Offline-mode should work afterwards.
