Easy way to see if it worked is to change the amt of dmg a grenade does, or the amt of hp the sectiods have. The grenade you can just throw at your own team and see the damage.

So gone through those exact steps maybe 30 times by now, tried various other ways to go about it and yet everytime I have used the modpatcher, my game simply wont start, I tried redownloading the modpatcher, still nothing.
The game just gives me an error and crashes on start up, even if I didn't change anything.
If I then reset my game through verifying cache through steam it works again, any idea why it's causing my game to start crashing?

In some situations, you need to delete XComGame.originalexe. An earlier post on this thread has more details. Another thing to try is use modpatcher with the vanilla DefaultGameCore.ini. Finally, you could try applying some other mod that uses ModPatcher and see if that works.

Well my problem is everytime after i run the modpatcher.exe, steam keeps popping up the completing installation when i run the game. And yeah i followed the steps accordingly. Its bloody steam being a jerk...gonna try to reinstall...
To run modded games with Steam, you have to put Steam in 'offline' mode. This is described in an earlier post in this thread (and elsewhere).
