How exactly do I quickly uninstall Toolbox without having to re-verify my steam files. In the backups folder there seem to many folders inside. There is an Originals subfolder inside which has Compressed and Decompressed. Should I only replace those files in the xcom install directory? There seem to be duplicates of some files in the compressed and decompressed folders. Kinda confused how to get vanilla back so some help please.

Originally the game UPK files come in compressed format, along with companion files with the same name and "_compressed_size" appended.
To apply mods to UPK files, the "_compressed_size" file has to be renamed or deleted, and the vanilla file decompressed. The absence of that "_compressed_size" file tells the game to expect/use the decompressed "loose file" version instead of the embedded 'resource cache' or compressed versions. (There is also an edit made to the EXE to get it to load any of three specific 'loose' INI files. See the 'Basic guide to installing mods' wiki article for details. There should be a backup copy of the original vanilla EXE you should also restore.)
The mod changes are generally applied to the decompressed file, which the game will then load.
So you use the decompressed versions where there are no companion "_compressed_size" files, and the compressed version where they do exist. Or just copy back both sets. The game can deal with both being present. They just take up more disk space.

The mod author really ought to include a proper readme. Waste of time.

I cannot get the 1.64 version to add custom mods to the game. I have Windows 8.1. I get two error messages. One that says there is an error in comment. When I try to install anyway I get a different message saying it cannot find something (sorry cannot remember the exact message now).
Check the ReadMe (included in the ZIP file). ToolBoks changed the 'comment' character (to standardize the format with other tools as much a possible) around that version and some Custom Mods need to be updated.
