I was wondering, is it random or on purpose they named the Nord's ''The Skaal''?
I have my doubts, based on the fact that ''Skaal'' means Skål (double aa = å), and Skål means cheers. As in ''Cheers for Mike's 99th birthday!''
Skaal?

The skaal seem to be interesting in mead a lot so maybe its like a reference to when you say cheers when you drink a pint (possible
)

Mead is a real drink, Mjød as we call it here. Sweet alcohol, but tastes like crap

it's possible that they meant to do that. But I don't think so.

There are many odd references to the languages spoken in Scandinavia.
Udyrfrykte
Udyr; Danish for monster
Frykte; Replace the k with a g, and you've got the danish verson of fear.
Basically a monster you should fear.
Ondjage
Ond; Evil
Jage; To hunt, or just hunt.
Evil, and should be hunted.
Gyldenhul (very good loot)
Gylden; Golden
Hul; Hole.
It is a golden hole. There's around 30.000 worth in drakes alone in it.

I should know, as I'm danish. There are many odd references to the languages spoken in Scandinavia.

Other examples are:
Himmelhost Barrow (Heavencough Barrow)
Kolbjorn Barrow (Add a d to Kol- and you get Koldbjorn which means Coldbear Barrow)
Blodskal (Bloodshell)
And so on.
I'm sure there's also swedish and norweigian phrases aswell.
