Gaenors pretty tough if you turn the difficulty up after he comes back to take his revenge on you... took me a while to kill him. The sewers are crazy on a high difficulty as well, those goblins kick your arse.

ok guys....i went to my options menu to up the difficulty setting and could NOT find any slider relating to difficulty. is it the AI setting? or am i missing something from my options? if so, does anybody know how i can enter a difficulty level from the console??

try going along the tabs at the top of the options screen the ones saying video, audio, etc. the difficulty slider should be under one of them... if not then u need the latest patch

the slider has easy on the left hand side and hard on the right. and yes i think it might be called AI

Man... the sewers of Mournhold are tough... but the high ordiantors can really give you a headache. Ricklings (with difficulty level raised) are soooo annoying! Try using a non-enchanted weapon instead.

Anyone tried Solstheim on +100 difficulty?
I would love to hear horror stories about that

:D well, kinda happy at least. i ended up uninstalling Morrowind because even after running the latest patch i still did NOT have a difficulty slider!! after re-installing the game i ran the Morrowind_v1.1.0605.exe patch (old patch, i know) and started up the game, and yes, the difficulty slider was there! of course i then ran the latest patch and started up a new character...my old character is retired due to the fact that i had about 30 mods installed previously and i do NOT want to deal with digging up all those mods again  .
anyone know what will happen if i try loading my previous characters saved games without installing the mods? will the game crash or will he just be missing equipment?

If you aren't running the mods you'll get about a hojillion "x is missing, is it safe to continue" popups (which, if you've enabled yes to all, won't matter.), but otherwise it should run fine.

Damn those goblins. I was trashing everything in sight on the island (pre-difficulty option) with my level 36 Breton Mage. Then, after updating and installing Tribunal and Bloodmoon, I set the difficulty to +100. That gave me some very good fights, esp. against Dremora Lords and Daedroth, and for some reason those crazy Blighted Nix-Hounds.

So, I figured it was all good and went merrily on to Mournhold. Low and behold, down in the sewers, the first Goblin I meet turns out to be a Bruiser, and smashes in 2 hits before I can even decide which way to run.

Depending on your character setup and level +30 to +60 should be challenging.

**POSSIBLE SPOILER**

Could also go down to Gavna Ravel (think thats right) tomb - hes a lich in the area below the temple. Took him on last night and he almost got me, he has a nasty loads of damage type spell which hurts (he took my char from 670 health down to about 40 in 2-3 hits). He is prob biggets chalklenge I've found yet
