hmm I kinda wish I made a poll on this.

If morrowind and Oblivion had the same graphics what would you play?

The main things I like about Oblivion is the charges and the sneak (graphics aside already)

I mean you become a Vamp in Oblivion no quests. You become a Vamp in Morrowind and wow quests....The Lore is great and there is just more quests...and you get specialization as per what clan of vamps you belong too

Alchemy is way more interesting in Morrowind, if your not very good in it you just wont make a potion sometimes, you fail to make one I like it, its not so cut and dry you always make a potion no matter what like in Oblivion.

I havent tried out lockpicking but I know its too easy in Oblivion....I know there is probes and I think I heard they have something to do with traps...i dono but that sounds fun too its just the little things that they added into Morrowind that they just left out of in Oblivion...

it feels like they dumed down the game because there was too many features and wanted to get a broader fan base and if you compare the games it really feels like its missing that extra something...and morrowind has it, it has the flavor, the missing ingredient that oblivion just doesnt have....

A) There is a quest to rid yourself of vampirism. I rather liked it. Although it isn't to Morrowind level.
B) Lock picking is shockingly, impossibly hard. Unless you have a skill level of 70<, then it's easy. However, you can just auto-lockpick, but then you lose like, 10 lockpicks.
C)You ever say Oblivion sucks again I'll rip your face off and feed it to a chicken, then eat the chicken for dinner. No offence.

I've played both Morrowind and Oblivion. I still play the two. Graphics aside, however, I feel that Oblivion is the better game. Sure they might have gone a bit more to the typical fantasy side, but the game is very good in it's own right. The main thing I liked was the changes to combat. As long as your weapon is in range you'll hit them. I never liked the fact in Morrowind that you can be standing RIGHT on top of someone with a two handed mace and hit them maybe once out of every twelve swings (with a low skill mind you).

Lockpicking... sure it's easier, but it's more interactive too. It's more than "run up to lock chest and hit the open key!" Lockpicking in Oblivion is more fun, even though it's easy to the point of being able to open a 5 tumbler lock with only 5 Security. But that's also why we have mods. I think it's OOO (I use FCOM) that actually adds a minimum skill to locks before you can unlock them.

Both games have their positives and negatives, but that's true with every game ever made. Even Tetris. Sure they might have made Oblivion easier as a whole to attract a broader player base, but I feel that Oblivion is in-fact the better of the two.

QFT dezi, I can do the same with 19/20 success rate. It will seem slightly hard at first, but if you do it for a little while, you'll understand how it works.

my thoughts exactly.Oblivion introduced many people to the RPG genre.Bethesda accomplished what they set out to do.

I havent treid lock picking in morrowind yet...but Oblivion I find its way too easy, I went to my friends house and with the Xbox version I poped open the Darkhand secret chests to get him the robes they hide. He didnt want to do the DB quest line...it took 3 lock picks, I was rusty =p but the locks have traps and thats what the probes are for!!

mods aside the official release of morrowind has better features, gameplay and lore. The attack system while flawed also had chop and thrust type of attacks, I love the throwing weapons and staffs along with light armor, medium armor, heavy armor and unarmored skills.

See above on alchemy, its much better in morrowind

the charges from morrowind suck they just return In Oblivion I think its more balanced with soul trapping and all that. Again Mods aside.

while I can agree on your points,Bethesda made Oblivion the way they did to attract a more varied group of ages to the game. They both I think have good and bad points, while I enjoyed morrowind,I love oblivion.

there is no lock picking minigame in Morrowind, its all dependant on skill!
