WOW oblivion Sucks!! if morrowind had came out a few years later it would DOMINATE! omg the storyline, the quests the indepthness of the game is AMAZING Oblivion is so...so....plain, so lack luster its just lame...
am I the only one who feels this way? is there some way we can petetion the next game to be more like morrowind? cause oblivion is Lame, just has better graphics....
Oh, you are not alone. I was severely disappointed also by the necessity of downloading a patch for my brand new Oblivion game, which had cost me 80€, before I could even play it!! The birth signs were screwed-up and the spells were mislabeled. That was my introduction to the game. I found tons of other bugs along the way. Those stupid arrows in the quests aren't even always indicating the correct place, but are really more for power-gamers anyhow.
Yes, Morrowind is CHOICE!! I only wish that Bethesda had enough programming experience to make their games more role-player oriented. Even the limited 3 choice response of NWNI and II seems too complex. It is nice that people react to you differently depending upon your specialization, house affiliation, etc. Unfortunately, a lot of stuff was messed-up in the German version of Morrowind, too. It seems that who ever translates these games into German is simply not competent. The Telvanni stronghold, which worked fine in the English version, stays as a small mushroom with no visible doors in the German version which I have. Patches do not help, nor do using the strongest soul gems.
What I wish is that someone had bothered fleshing-out the whole Ayleiden ruins thing in Oblivion. You find placards and whatnots in one near the imperial city, but you aren't allowed to explore aspects of the culture or downfall, etc. That would have added some depth to the game.
The Morrowind is so worthwhile, that I paid to replace my original disc when it exploded in my drive. That's how I ended-up with a German version. Unfortunately, every version I've gotten since the original has a horrible lag, a higher chance of falling through things, and a very high crash-rate when you run and jump at the same time. Yes, I have patched the Bloodmoon that came with them.
Don't hold your breath on the next game being any better. Bethesda is obviously aiming their products more and more towards the power gamers and graphic mongers who don't care if the game has been thoroughly tested or not. People say I am ungrateful for the hard-work and time invested in this product. I say, "If you're going to do something, do it right!" The Physics system in Oblivion is ludicrous! You bump a shelf and a lying book falls, but a standing cup stays in place. It's nearly impossible to place items. Morrowind was VERY user friendly for decorating. I also do not believe that if I smash a 6' tall muscular man with my two-handed hammer (me being only 5'4"), that I could send him flying 15'+ feet, no matter how muscular or well-trained I am. It's absurd and unnecessary. If I fry something with 15 points of fire damage, I shouldn't have to search until next July to find the corpse.
The biggest problem I have with Morrowind is that it is not worth bothering with the marksman skill. The arrows are like hurling toothpicks at your opponent. I've often wondered why these people do not try a little archery themselves so that they have some idea about it. If I hit a critical spot, I can bring down that 6' tall muscular man with a singular, well-placed arrow: A temple, jugular, etc. With a crossbow, I could penetrate many armor types. If I were skilled enough, I could hit a "jinx" or open spot in the armor - where the pieces join, etc.
