minor skills are: axe, medium armor, enchant, blunt weapon,alchemy : i'm using a long sword: should i switch to an axe, to raise my level ? (at level 1 now, 7/10 of way to level 2); what is 'blunt weapon' ? my armor rating is 3, i have not bought any training: if i buy med. armor training, will this make my med. armor minor skill increase ?, thereby, helping to raise my level ? i have major skills increased already; enchant : how do i increase this minor skill ? alchemy: if i eat ingredients will this raise my alchemy minor skill, thereby helping to increase my level ? lock picking: how do i do this ? thanks

If you want to level up your axe skill, making it more likely for you to hit an enemy with an axe, you should start using one as soon as possible. Using anything in your major skills will also contribute toward your overall level increasing.

Blunt weapons are things like maces, clubs, or warhammers.

Being hit by an enemy while you're wearing medium armour will cause your medium armour skill to increase.

Eating ingredients does contribute toward raising your alchemy skill, whether it's a major or minor, but it's slower to level that way than brewing potions, and you'll only get the first of the four possible effects for the ingredient if you eat it like that.

To pick locks, you need to equip a lockpick that you've found or bought, and use it on a door. Same with probes to disarm traps.
