To get this out of the way, never use MS Paint, especially the damn spray paint tool to replicate blood. Now, before you start texturing, you need a proper image editing tool. (IE. For a paid tool, Photoshop; for a decent free tool, Paint.NET or etc.) Grab the texture and grab a blood paint brush/make blood. Before you start applying the blood, don't drown the blade in blood. That's bad. Make sure the blood placement makes sense in how the weapon is used. (In this case, it's a slashing weapon.) So make sure the blood is placed where the blade makes contact to the skin. Kind of hard to explain that part, but I hope this helps you later on.

lol my bad guys. Was actually using photoshop. But I didn't have the original texture file so I had to download another and go over it with a different colour. Now the red groove isn't actually mean't to be blood. Just thought a red groove would be half decent. Considering it was a 10 minute job (if that). Sure the texture file may look bad. But in game, I reckon it came out quite well. Any other advice would be much appreciated. The advice is helpful though so thanks! :)

The most important thing is put some time in to your recolors.
With my recolors, it was some times a several hour process, but it was worth it looking at the final product.

If you have photoshop, you have all you need regarding tools.
For selection I use the Magic Wand at anywhere from 15-35 tolerance depending on what I need, with Contiguous ticked.
(You can keep adding to your selection by shift+clicking with magic wand selected)
Also, try to use the Color Replacer Tool instead of the brushes, or only use the brushes at lower opacity so as to not wash out details.

Alright cheers. I was going to use the pen tool to make it more precise but I guess that could make the edges seem more rigid. Much appreciated man!

This skin brings so much pain to my eyes, obviously the uploader spent a lot of time and effort on it, but dude watch some tutorials, with the efforts you spent on this and with some practice and experience you will make a lot of progress.

If it looks good in-game, maybe you should take some screenshots...
