Yeah it is fairly common... could Skyrim use more than 3gb memory I'd never have any problems. But it was just meant to be.

Hmm... if I'm not mistaken it can use only 4GB. There use to be a mod that made Skyrim use that much, but Bethesda took it and made it part of the game, so it was no longer needed. Now Skyrim uses 4GB. I have 8GB of ram in my system, it would be nice if it would use at least 6GB, but that won't happen anytime soon.
I don't have a lot of mods, but if I could have Skyrim use 6GB, I wouldn't studder at all. I studder every time I play, and rarely I'll crash to desktop due to the problem we're talking about. I was actually in the process of doing a Dragonborn quest, some wizard guy wanted me to find this Black Book. Went into a dwemer place to get it, and instantly crashed - no error, or anything.
Sorry if that was kind of spoiling it... I tried to keep it simple and not say much about the quest.
I use a papyrus tweak I found on the Bethesda forums, and other heavy tweaks to my INIs. If I didn't, it wouldn't be as stable as it is. I have a computer that is only a little bit better than Console, not by much.
