I see many mentions and comparisons with WoW here. Let me give my view on the matter.
Whether or not a game is a WoW clone is truly irrelevant. If an MMORPG has solid gameplay, good content, a strong enough community etc. etc. then it is just good. But if any or all of those factors fail then you could say it sucks donkey balls, and no amount of innovation or originality could save it.
A concept could be innovative, but that doesn't mean it's going to be fun.
Look at SWTOR. Some would say it failed because it was a WoW clone. No. This had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with it. It failed because it was bad. The combat was bad, the content was bad, the community was OK at first (depending on your server) but eventually dwindled and became bad also.
When TESO or ESO or whatever you want to call it comes out, if it is good, it's not simply because it's original or innovative; it's just because it's fun. If it is bad, you can't blame that on concepts that were less than innovative.

To add to this, let me say that I definitely lean towards innovation, of course. I'm simply saying that it's not necessary to make a good game.
I'd rather TESO came out as a WoW clone, but sprinkle innovations here and there to spice it up; rather than it come out totally original and be a bad game.
To have both is always nice, and I obviously hope for that, but if I had to choose it would be an unoriginal but great game.
What I've seen so far of TESO does not show me it is a clone of any game at all. It seems original enough, and so many alpha testers have already stated that it feels like Skyrim online, so if that's what you're looking for, it sounds pretty close.
I think it is a big mistake for them to not implement a complete first person mode (seeing the hands and weapons) to cater to the Elder Scrolls fanbase, but it won't hurt the MMO fanbase at all. I personally have always preferred third person view. I don't put all this time into creating my character and making him look all badass just to not see him in action. I realize that many, if not most, Elder Scrolls players do play in first person though, and it would be a good move on Zenimax' part to make worthy the first person mode.
Anyway, I think I'm done rambling.

Not sure if I would put wow to compare, look at the UI wow has an enormous amount of non essential UI elements the class system is cookie cutter its rather almost everything opposite of Teso. Teso class system from what they described so far is entirely different then your traditional mmo as its just a starting point to build upon your class. Kind of similar to the class system in older elder scrolls ya you can pick an class in a menu but your are not confined to that type of class to only those skill sets.
Being able to use any armor and weapon type is about non existent in any mmo except mortal online is the only one that comes to mind Gw2 is restrictive. Only thing that would seem like a copy is the pvp but its not a gw2 copy, its a copy of daoc witch had a very solid pvp concept.
Probably the only mmo that you can compare it to is mortal online, no skill cooldowns, skill based game, sandbox, 1st person view only and can use any weapon - armor. Very similar limited UI elements compass health stamina and mana bars with an small hotbar. Teso has 1st person but I dont think the developers design the game mainly for 1st person and thought about 3rd person last.

"WoW-clone" just makes me facepalm...
You know, the ones making this game are the masterminds behind Dark Age of Camelot, a game that came out 3 years before World of Warcraft. Like any other game developer do, Blizzard "borrowed" some stuff from DAoC and a bunch of other MMOs to make WoW. That's how it goes in the game development industry (and most other industries) - you look at what has been successful before, and then you expand upon that.
Now, there are games where the developers have skipped the "expand upon" part, and just used what had been successful before, which quickly make the game boring. But from what I can see, ZOS is far from doing that. They are looking at what has been successful before, as well as using their own experience in the industry, then greatly expands on those ideas, in the process getting new ideas, then they mold it in with TES, and there you have it: TESO.

You make a good point. So they will probably be taking most of their borrowed concepts from DAOC, and there's nothing wrong with that.
It's preposterous to say TESO looks like a WoW clone.
I think the issue is people are expecting a full-on Elder Scrolls game just with an online option, but that's definitely not what they're going to get.
TESO will be an MMORPG, and it should be expected for it to feel like an MMORPG, not an Elder Scrolls game with a multiplayer option.
However, apparently it does reflect a lot on the Elder Scrolls gameplay style, as said by so many people who have already tested it, and I for one am very excited to see how they bring everything together.

Yeah co-op skyrim would be killer. 4 person over lan or tcp/ip. Just like the good old days.
